The purpose of this study was to calculate discriminant functions and to classify clusters on 25 districts of Seoul in 2015 on property crime such as robbery, stolen goods, fraud, embezzlement, breach of trust, damages. The followings were the results of this study using hierarchical cluster analysis and discriminant analysis. First, the followings were the clusters on 25 districts in Seoul for property crimes such as robbery, stolen goods, fraud, embezzlement, breach of trust, damages. ‘Low Risk Zone (1)' had 21 districts. The ‘Middle Risk Zone (2)' had 3 districts. ‘High Risk Zone (3)' had 1 district. Second, The discriminant on 25 districts in Seoul for property crimes such as robbery, stolen goods, fraud, embezzlement, breach of trust, damages could be expressed in ① the discriminant function D for the Low Risk Zone, ② the discriminant function D for the Middle Risk Zone, ③ the discriminant function D for the High Risk Zone. Also, it was found that the actual affiliation and the prospective affiliation of the 25 districts in Seoul where each discriminant function was applied were identical.

본 연구는 2015년 서울시 25개 자치구에서 발생한 절도, 장물, 사기, 횡령, 배임, 손괴 등 재산범죄에 대한 군집과 판별함수를 도출하는데 그 목적이 있다. 계층적 군집분석(hierarchical cluster analysis), 판별분석(discriminant analysis) 등을 사용하여 도출한 연구결과는 구체적으로 다음과 같다. 첫째, 2015년 발생한 절도, 장물, 사기, 횡령, 배임, 손괴 등 재산범죄에 대한 서울시 25개 자치구의 군집은 ‘저위험 지역(1)’은 21개 자치구이며, ‘중위험 지역(2)’은 3개 자치구이고, ‘고위험 지역(3)’은 1개 자치구가 해당한다. 둘째, 2015년 발생한 절도, 장물, 사기, 횡령, 배임, 손괴 등 재산범죄에 대한 서울시 25개 자치구의 군집분류 판별함수는 ① 저위험 지역(1)에 대한 판별함수, ② 중위험 지역(2)에 대한 판별함수, ③ 고위험 지역(3)에 대한 판별함수 등으로 표현할 수 있다. 개별 판별함수를 적용한 서울시 25개 자치구의 실제 및 예측 소속집단이 일치하였다. 이러한 결과는 서울시 자치구에서 발생한 절도, 장물, 사기, 횡령, 배임, 손괴 등 재산범죄 발생건수가 25개 구의 지역적 특성을 고려한 군집을 형성하는데 필요한 독립변수로 사용할 수 있다는 것을 의미한다. 나아가 기존의 군집분석 외에 판별분석을 통해 판별함수까지 도출하게 됨으로써 지역적 범죄 발생 특성에 기초한 치안정책 수립에 상당한 도움이 될 수 있다.
