This study was performed to explore the wildeflower of Rocky Mountains, to compare it with Korean wildflower and then to map out the strategy on the educational use. And the main contents of this study were composed of the geographical characteristics comparing both countries, the vegetation distribution review of Colorado, creating database to analyze trail courses with their wild plants, and the field trips to derive exploration model of plants habit with the educational significance. The method of literature review with field trip was used in order to achieve the goal of this study. Also the collected data were analyzed by SPSS programs. The results of this study were as follow. The wildflowers of 343 species were founded among 50 trail routes. 61 species of them have reseeded themselves in Korean Peninsula. About 30% of 343 species inhabit a Korean forest including species looks like a similar shape. Therefore, our ecological education need to focus on the practical experience instead of the scholastic activity such as the United States. And we should need to develop related web site to be obtainable the information on the forest field trip easily.

이 연구는 로키산맥에 자생하는 식물들을 탐사하여 우리나라의 자생식물들과 비교해보고 이를 바탕으로 교육적 활용방안과 시사점을 모색해보기 위하여 추진되었다. 이 연구의 주요 내용으로는 콜로라도와 한국의 지리적 특성 비교, 식물생태환경에 따른 고도별 명칭과 콜로라도의 식생분포 고찰, 탐사 루트와 야생식물들의 현황을 분석하기 위한 데이터베이스 구축, 구축된 데이터베이스를 바탕으로 탐사활동 전개, 그리고 야생식물의 서식지 탐사 모형을 구안하고 이를 바탕으로 교육적인 시사점을 도출하는 것이었다. 문헌고찰과 인터넷검색을 통해 필요로 하는 자료를 수집한 후, SPSS 프로그램을 이용하여 데이터베이스를 구축하였다. 구축된 데이터베이스를 이용하여 탐사루트별 야생화 정보를 분석하고 탐사 활동을 추진하였으며, 그 결과를 바탕으로 야생식물의 서식지 탐사모형을 구안하여 교육적 시사점과 함께 제시하였다. 선정된 50개의 탐사 루트에서 발견할 수 있는 야생화는 343종으로 조사되었으며, 이들 중 약 18%에 해당되는 61종은 우리나라에서 자생하고 있는 것으로 확인되었다. 그리고 확인되진 않았지만 생김새가 비슷한 종을 포함하면 최소 30% 정도가 우리나라에서 서식하고 있을 것으로 추정된다. 아울러 우리나라의 식물관련 교육이 학문적, 인지적인 모습에서 경험적 실용적으로의 변환이 필요하며, 인터넷 상에서 체계적이면서도 쉽게 탐사 관련 정보를 수집할 수 있는 사이트의 개발과 운영이 필요할 것으로 보인다.
