This study investigates the relationships between entrepreneurs’ competency, entrepreneurial teams’ competency, and the performance of new technology-based startups. Also, this study examine the moderating effect of commercialization stages through the structure equation modeling(SEM). The results of this study are as follows. First, entrepreneurs’ and entrepreneurial teams’ competency have significant effects on both financial performance and technological performance positively. Second, the moderating effect of commercialization stages is only significant in the relationship between entrepreneurial teams’ competency and technical performance. Base on the findings, this study suggest the importance of acquiring both entrepreneurs’ and entrepreneurial teams’ competency regardless of commercialization stages for new technology-based startups. However, after the commercialization is complete, the startups need to maintain high level of team eligibility and team commitment to improve technical performance since the competitive advantages come from the innovativeness of technologies and products.

본 연구의 목적은 초기 기술창업기업의 창업가 및 창업팀 역량이 기업성과에 미치는 영향력과 사업화 단계의 조절효과를 실증적으로 파악하는데 있다. 연구 목적 달성을 위해 업력 3년 이내의 초기 기술창업기업 창업가 273명을 대상으로 설문결과를 수집하였으며, 가설 검증에는 구조방정식모형 분석을 활용하였다. 연구 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 창업가 역량은 기업의 재무적 성과와 기술적 성과에 모두 긍정적으로 유의한 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 창업팀 역량은 기업의 재무적 성과와 기술적 성과에 모두 유의한 긍정적 영향력을 가지는 것으로 나타났다. 셋째, 창업팀 역량이 기술적 성과에 미치는 긍정적 영향력은 사업화가 진행 및 준비 중인 기업보다 사업화가 완료된 집단에서 더 강한 것으로 분석되어, 창업팀 역량과 기술성과 간의 관계에서 사업화 단계의 조절효과를 확인하였다.
