This study was conducted to investigate the characteristics of 12-stringed gayageum and 25-stringed gayageum accompaniment according to the concept of 'tradition' and 'traditionesque'. A traditionesque is a new concept proposed by Andrew Kilick to explain changgeuk. According to him, changguk has both traditional and contemporary style, while many of it coming from the traditional. However, changgeuk differs from pansori in that its form and contents are not preserved. I have found similarity between relationship of two gayageum music and that of pansori and changeuk. Therefore, in order to argue this, I compared the a 12-stringed gayageum musical piece with 25 – stringed ones, and . From this study we can understand that 25-string gayageum is on a common basis with the 12-stringed gayageum and that the 12-stringed gayageum contributes to developing the gayageum music from a different perspective.

본 연구는 ‘전통’과 ‘유사전통(Traditionesque)’ 개념에 따라 12현 가 야금 연주곡과 25현 가야금 연주곡의 특징을 규명하기 위해 진행되었 다. 유사전통은 앤드류 킬릭이 창극을 설명하기 위하여 새롭게 제시한 개념이다. 그에 따르면 창극은 전통과 현대 양식을 동시에 지니고 있 으며, 많은 부분이 전통적인 것에서 기인한다. 하지만 창극은 그 형태 와 내용이 보존되지 않는다는 점에서 판소리와 큰 차이점을 갖고 있 다. 연구자는 12현 가야금 연주곡과 25현 가야금 연주곡의 관계가 킬 릭이 주장한 판소리와 창극과 유사한 관계에 있다고 보았다. 따라서 이를 논증하기 위하여 12현 가야금 연주곡<성금연 가야금산조>와 25 현 가야금 연주곡 <새산조>, <한오백년>을 비교 분석하였다. 우리는 본 연구를 통해 25현 가야금이 12현 가야금과 공통의 기반위에 존재하고, 12현 가야금이 추구하는 음악과 다른 시각에서 가야금 음악을 발전시키고 있다는 점을 알 수 있다.
