So far, when we explain about Tongsinsa, the negative image which is based on Imjin-war has been attended. This manuscript gives attention to the existence of time about 150 years between 1st Tongsinsa and 11th Tongsinsa, and also contemplated about the alteration of recognition about Japan through several pieces of from the Hehengchongjae. As a result, the description about Imjin-war shows a steady falling tendency as increasing the order. Moreover, the expressions that seemed to come from Imjin-war such as ‘Enemy Japanese’ or ‘Brutal and Pugnacious Japanese' did not show up that much compared to other negative expressions from different scenes, for example, when they had problem with the people of Tsushima and when they went against the ideology of Neo-Confucianism. Furthermore, the expressions which was considered as they result from Imjin-war, the character differs from the earlier ones. As we can confirm from the then the True Record of the Joseon Dynasty, the number of appearance and time of the word "Enemy" means that the negative recognition about Japanese which was formed by Imjin-war has considerably decreased from the early Tongsinsa. Because of such reasons, I came to the view that the discription of the culture of entertainment and the positive expression about Japanese has appeared in the records of Tongsinsa.

今まで通信使について説明する場合、文禄・慶長の役に起因する否定的なイメージが強かったようである。本稿では1次回と11次回には150余年の時間が存在することに着目し、『海行摠載』の中の一部の使行録のみを対象にし、日本に対する認識の変化について考察してみた。その結果、文禄・慶長の役に関する記述は次数が増えるにつれ減りつつあり、文禄・慶長の役に起因したとされる表現(かたきの日本人像・残酷で好戦的な日本人像)は、他の場合に現れる否定的な表現(対馬人とのトラブルの場合・性理学の理念に反する場合)に比べると、数的にも次数的にも少なかった。それだけではなく、文禄・慶長の役に起因したとされる表現の中で、前期のものと後期のものとはその性格を異にしていたのである。これは当時、朝鮮王朝実録に記された「かたき」の場合と同じく、文禄・慶長の役に起因した日本に対する否定的なイメージがだいぶ衰えていたとも言えよう。その結果、全部とは言えないものの、所々で日本への肯定的な表現も見られているし、使行の中での遊びの文化とも言えるものが読み取れるようになったと思うのである。
