The purpose of this study is to analyze the attractive attributes and Importance - Satisfaction Analysis (ISA) of Suncheon Bay National Garden to satisfy the identity of the first national garden and ecological garden in Korea. Also, this study suggests a sustainable and proper management plan to maintain qualitative value as a tourist destination. The main results were as follows: First, the characteristics of the respondents were female, 20-40, with families. Residential areas had higher participation than other areas (such as the Suncheon and Honam regions). Therefore, geographical accessibility was analyzed to find how it affects the attractions selected. Second, the attractions of Suncheon Bay National Garden were divided into identity factors, cultural factors, service factors and convenience factors. The overall explanatory power was 56.51%. The results of the importance- satisfaction attributes analysis showed that the items related to identity and convenience factors were highly rated with items related to cultural and service factors were rated low. Total importance was 3.94 and total satisfaction was 3.55. Analysis showed that the satisfaction after the visit was lower than the expectation before the visit. Specifically, the world garden had the highest difference in importance-satisfaction and it was evaluated as the place with the lowest satisfaction rate in the place with the highest preference in the EXPO period. Third, the ISA analysis showed that the nature, ecology, comfort, accessibility and safety that were consistent with the objective of Suncheon Bay National Garden were high in importance and satisfaction. On the other hand, recreational facilities, congestion, and world gardens were less satisfactory than their importance, and were evaluated as absolutely necessary for aggressive improvement.

본 연구는 순천만국가정원을 대상으로 매력속성 및 중요도-만족도 특성을 분석하여 우리나라 제 1호 국가정원의 장소성에 부합되면서도 대표적 생태정원관광지로서의 질적 가치 유지와 지속적이며 합리적인 관리방안을 제시하기 위한 기초자료를 제공하고자 시도되었다. 연구의 결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다. 첫째, 순천만국가정원의 방문객은 여성(56.2%)의 비율이 조금 높았으며, 연령은 20 대∼40대(65.8%)로 높은 비중을 보였고, 거주지는 해당지와 인근지역 비중이 높았다. 방문목적으로 관광(31.4%), 정원체험(25.1%) 순으로 나타났고. 방문일정은 당일방문 (84.6%), 1박 2일(12.3%)순으로, 동반형태는 연인/친구(41.7%), 가족(33.4%)이 높 은 비중을 차지하고, 체류시간은 대부분 3시간 이상으로 분석되었다. 전체만족도는 7.37로 높게 나타났으며, 이용행태(직업, 체류시간, 재방문 여부, 타인추천 여부)와 전체 만족도에서 통계적인 차이를 보였고, 방문자의 77.8%가 재방문을 희망하고, 72.8%가 타인에게 추천할 의도가 있는 것으로 분석되었다. 둘째, 순천만국가정원의 매력속성으로 정체성요인, 문화성요인, 서비스요인, 편의성 요인으로 구분되었고 전체설명력은 56.51%로 나타났다. 중요도-만족도 매력속성결과 정체성, 편의성 등과 관련된 항목들을 높게 인식하였고, 문화성, 서비스는 낮게 평가되었 다. 전체 중요도는 3.94, 만족도는 3.55로 방문전 중요도보다는 방문후 만족도가 낮은 것으로 평가되었다. 셋째, ISA 분석 결과, 순천만국가정원의 목적과 장소성에 부합되는 자연성과 생태성, 쾌적성, 접근성, 안전성 등의 속성은 중요도와 만족도가 모두 높아 대상지가 지니는 강점 으로 분석되었고, 반면 정보제공시설, 편익시설, 휴양시설, 혼잡도, 세계정원 등은 중요 도에 비해 만족도는 낮아 약점으로 나타나 이에 대한 적극적인 대책 수립이 필요한 부분 으로 평가되었다.
