The purpose of this study is to explore a strategy of acting instruction for actors through pragmatic approaches. The actor/learner's scenario analysis consists of the process including first, identifying the ‘given circumstance’ and finding the ‘purpose’ and ‘reason’ of the action. Since pragmatics is a study of the principles of language use by the context of situation, this study has taken pragmatics to specify the method of analysis of the scripts needed for actors/learners. The physical, social, and mental world must be driven by the cognitive processes of language users. The cognitive process in the world of pragmatics is the background of the utterance and interpretation, and the interaction is made between speaker and listener, which completes the communication. This applies equally to actors/learners. Therefore, the model of acting teaching method was suggested by rearranging each element belonging to the physical, social, and mental world into ‘purpose’ and ‘given circumstance’. These ‘purpose’ and ‘given circumstance’ must be acted upon in the cognitive process of the actor/learner. This study focuses on a series of acting training processes such as the actor/learner's method of analyzing the script, the cognitive process of ‘purpose’ and ‘given circumstance’, and the belief in the situation and action. This strategy of acting may play a key role in proper management of the actor/learner's means of expression.

본 연구는 화용론적 접근을 통해서 배우의 연기 지도 방안을 모색하는데 목적이 있다. 배우/학습자의 대본 분석은 먼저, ‘주어진 상황’을 파악하고 행동의 ‘목적’과 ‘이유’를 찾는 과정으로 이루어진다. 화용론이 상황맥락에 의해 언어 사용의 원리를 연구하는 학문이므로, 배우/학습자에게 필요한 대본 분석 방법을 구체화하는데 화용론을 차용하였다. 물리적, 사회적, 정신적 세계는 언어 사용자의 인지 과정에 의해 반드시 작동된다. 이들 세계의 인지 과정은 발화와 해석의 배경이 되고 화․청자 사이에 상호 작용되어 의사소통이 이루어지기 때문이다. 이것은 배우/학습자에게도 동일하게 적용된다. 따라서 물리적, 사회적, 정신적 세계에 속하는 각각의 요소들을 ‘목적’과 ‘주어진 상황’으로 재배열하여 연기 교수법의 모형을 제시하였다. 이러한 ‘목적’과 ‘주어진 상황’은 배우/학습자의 인지 과정에서 작동되어야 한다. 본고는 배우/학습자의 대본 분석 방법, ‘목적’과 ‘주어진 상황’의 인지 과정, 상황과 행동에 대한 믿음과 같은 일련의 연기 교육 과정에 집중하였다. 이와 같은 연기 지도 방안은 배우/학습자의 표현 수단을 적절하게 운용하는데 핵심적인 역할을 하게 될 것이다.
