Empirical evidence has been accumulated for learning by exporting that export firms can enhance innovation performance by acquiring diverse knowledge in overseas markets. However, there are a lack of research on the factors moderating the effect of learning by exporting and difficulty in generalizing the current empirical results of learning by exporting. Empirical results show that export sales have a positive effect on the innovation performance of pharmaceutical firms and that this positive relationship is strengthened as the firms possess more technological assets
