This study consists of investigation and analysis of records of Sasojeol(士小節) of Lee Duck-moo’s related to dress and ornaments which was dealt with in Bueui(婦儀) and Donggyu(童規) and furthermore, comparative analysis of the contents and records related to dress and ornaments including Sajeon(士典). This study leads to the finding of records related to dress ornaments from 6.7% of Sajeon, 17.24% of Bueui, and 16.92% of Donggyu and from 96 paragraphs (10.5%) of total 914 paragraphs in Sasojeol. In terms of terms related to records related to dress and ornaments, Sajeon has more terms related to dress, while Bueui and Donggyu have more terms related to ornaments. In terms of quotations, all of Sajeon, Bueui and Dongyu quoted Yegi(禮記) and Shigyeong(詩經), presenting the episodes and teachings of persons. As a result of analysis of records related to dress and ornaments, while Sajeon emphasize the importance of dress and ornaments in terms of etiquette and face saving, while attaching importance on the basic manners and attitude, Bueui advises on the detachment from popular trend and luxury and advice on housewives’ job to do and importance of teaching their sons and daughters proper dress and ornament codes as part of their domestic upbringing. Dongyu touches on the problems related to dress codes which were affected by lack of education for children and kite flying, while stressing the importance of dress and ornaments in terms of peer relationship, education, behavior and conduct. Overall, the records related to dress and ornaments in Sasojeol provided us with a glimpse of Duck-moo Lee’s view on minor manners for scholars, housewives, and their children and a glance at aspects of the manners of those days. It is hoped that this study will be utilized as basic references for the related researchers’ future studies.

이 논문은 이덕무 『사소절(士小節)』의 ｢부의(婦儀)｣와 ｢동규(童規)｣에서 다루고 있는 복식관련 기록을 조사 분석하고 나아가 ｢사전(士典)｣을 포함한 『사소절』 세 편의 복식관련 내용과 기록에 대한 비교 분석을 진행하였다. 그 결과 ｢사전｣의 6.7%, ｢부의｣의 17.24%, ｢동규｣의 16.92%에서 복식관련 기록이 조사되었으며, 『사소절』 총 914장 중 복식관련 기록은 총 96장(10.5%)에서 조사되었다. 복식관련 기록의 용어의 경우 ｢사전｣은 의복관련 용어가 많았고, ｢부의｣와 ｢동규｣는 장신관련 용어가 많았다. 인용의 경우 ｢사전｣과 ｢부의｣와 ｢동규｣에서 모두 『예기』와 『시경』을 인용하고 있었으며, 인물들의 일화와 가르침 등을 제시하고 있었다. 복식관련 기록의 내용 분석 결과, ｢사전｣은 복식과 관련하여 기본예의와 마음가짐을 중시하면서 격식과 체면을 위한 복식을 강조하고 있었으며, ｢부의｣는 유행과 사치를 멀리 할 것과 부인의 할 일과 자녀 양육을 위한 어머니로서의 복식관련 가르침의 중요성을 강조하고 있었다. ｢동규｣에서는 교육 부족과 연날리기 등과 같은 폐해로 인한 의복 예절의 문제를 지적하였으며, 교우관계와 교육 및 몸가짐과 품행에서의 복식의 중요성을 강조하였다. 종합적으로 『사소절』의 복식관련 기록을 통하여 이덕무의 선비와 부인 및 자녀를 위한 작은 예절에 대한 인식과 당시의 시대상과 예절의 단면 등을 엿볼 수 있었으며, 이 연구가 관련 연구자들의 후속 연구를 위한 기초자료로 활용되기를 기대한다.
