The purpose of this study is to analysis on the conflicts about career choices and decision-making of female student teachers. As a results of using Ground Theory, career conflict after graduation is similar to the career conflict that generally experienced in korea college students. However, in this study, it was focused on the factor of 'women' acted throughout their career choice and decision. Most of the female college students have been forced to recognize their profession as a 'good job as a woman', before considering the understanding, interest, aptitude, sense of duty, responsibility, service spirit, etc. of the job as a teacher. In addition, the opportunity cost of university education, the borderline for the possibility of career disconnection, and the need for self - realization were amplifying the conflicts among female college students. Nonetheless, through career conflicts, female college students have been concerned about their future and their life. It is also important to note that they have formed job values and self identities.

본 연구는 우리나라 4년제 대학(사범대 및 일반단과대)에서 교직이수를 하는 여대생들이 겪는 진로선택 및 결정에 관한 갈등상황을 근거이론으로 분석하고자 하였다. 분석결과, 예비교사 양성과정을 이수하고 있지만, 졸업 후 교직으로의 진출을 두고 갈등하는 상황은 우리나라 대학생들이 일반적으로 겪는 진로갈등과 비슷한 양상으로 나타났다. 그러나 본 연구에서는 ‘여성’이라는 요인이 이들의 진로결정 전반에 걸쳐 작용하는 것에 주목하였다. 교직이수를 하는 대부분의 여대생들은 교사라는 직종에 대한 이해, 흥미, 적성, 사명감, 책임감, 봉사정신 등을 고려하기 이전에 ‘여성으로서 좋은 직업’으로 교직을 인식하도록 강요받으며 자란 것으로 나타났다. 여기에 대학교육에 투입된 기회비용, 경력단절 가능성에 대한 경계, 자아실현 욕구 등이 함께 작용하여 여대생들의 갈등을 증폭시키고 있었다. 그럼에도 불구하고 일련의 진로갈등 과정을 통해 여대생들은 자신의 미래와 삶에 대한 구체적인 고민을 하고, 직업가치관과 자아정체감을 형성하고 있었다는 점에 중요한 의미가 부여된다.
