This study is to analyze Japanese female believer in TONGILGYO who married Korean man with the perspective that religious conditions work positively on the integration of family and the establishment of identity in multi-cultural home. The reason for it is that Japanese female believer in TONGILGYO married Korean man, compared to followers of other religions or non-believers, is relatively well adapted to Korean society. It is thought that, the reason that female believers of TONGILGYO moved to Korea after marrying better adapted to Korean society than women of various nationality, is for the multiple effect of the religious belief of TONGILYO and Japanese social personality of theirs. First, I conducted quantitative research into the situation of religion, family integration and the establishment of family identity in multi-cultural families. That is to verify the differences between families of other religions or non-religion and family of TONGILGYO quantitatively. Second, In order to supplement these quantitative findings, an in-depth interview was conducted on the life-history of female believer of TONGILGYO. Thus, this study is to confirm the differences in the Korean social adaptation of the Japanese female believer in TONGILGYO by combining the results of quantitative research and qualitative in-depth interview.

본 연구는 다문화가정의 종교적 상황이 가족통합 및 가족정체성 확립에 긍정적으로 작용한다는 점에 착목하여, 통일교 일본인 결혼이주 여성가족에 대한 분석을 한 것이다. 그 이유로는, 통일교 일본인 결혼이주 여성가족의 경우, 다른 종교나 무교 가정에 비해서 상대적으로 한국사회에 잘 적응하고 있다는 점 때문이다. 즉 다양한 국적의 결혼이주 여성 중에, 통일교 일본인 여성들이 잘 적응한다는 것은, 그들의 종교적 신앙심, 그리고 일본인의 사회적 성격이 복합적으로 작용한 것이라고 생각하기 때문이다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 종교적 상황과 가족통합, 가족정체성 확립에 대한 수량적 조사를 하였다. 이것은 다른 종교를 가진 다문화가정과 통일교 다문화가정의 차이점을 수량적으로 검증하기 위한 것이다. 또 이 수량적 조사결과를 보완하기 위해서, 통일교 여성의 생활사에 대한 심층인터뷰를 하였다. 이처럼 본 연구는 양적 조사와 질적 조사결과를 종합하여 통일교 일본인 여성가족의 한국사회 적응에 있어서의 차별성을 확인한 것이다.
