Electric arc fault produces substantial radiation energy of high temperature up to 20,000k which is four times of that of sun’s surface, intense light, and blast pressure in an extremely short time. It also releases high temperature of molten metal droplets. These high radiant energy and droplets can cause fire. Reducing arc fault energy means not only to protect human in workplace but also to reduce electric fire. There are two measures to lessen electric arc fault energy. The one is reducing the bolted fault current and the other is removing the faulted part of circuit as soon as possible. The purpose of this paper is to suggest that how we can reduce fire caused by electric arc fault. IEEE std 1584 deals electric arc fault in aspect of arc-flash hazard distance and flash-protection boundary to protect human. This paper is applied to utilize IEEE std 1584 in reducing fire of electric arc fault incident energy of fabric cotton.
