This paper explores how Yeats’s Anima and Maud Gonne’s Animus interact and how they are expressed in Yeats’s poetry from the perspectives of Jungian analytical psychology. Yeats craves for an ideal relationship with Maud Gonne where Anima and Animus are harmoniously unified, but his dream is unfulfilled due to her Animus projection to other men and her interference with his Anima projection to other women. In spite of this hardship, he establishes a harmonious relationship with various archetypes in his collective unconscious, which helps with his self-discovery and the completion of his philosophical concept, the Unity of Being.

본 연구는 융의 분석심리학적 관점에서 예이츠의 아니마와 모드 곤의 아니무스가 어떻게 상호작용을 하며, 어떠한 발전과정을 거쳐 그의 시에서 표출되는지 를 고찰한다. 시인은 모드 곤과의 관계에서 아니마와 아니무스가 조화롭게 결합된 이 상적 남녀관계를 갈구했지만, 다른 남성을 향한 아니무스 투사로 인한 그녀의 무관심 과 냉대, 다른 여성을 향한 시인의 아니마 투사의 방해 등으로 현실에서 그 꿈을 좌 절당했다. 시인은 이러한 힘든 과정을 극복하고 내면에 존재하는 집단무의식의 여러 가지 원형들과 조화로운 의식적 관계를 맺음으로써 자아를 실현하고 존재의 통일이라 는 철학적 개념을 완성하기에 이른다
