This research aims at investigating the relationship between innovation capabilities and performance. Firms constantly create technological innovation to survive and grow continuously in the competitive environment. However, there are few studies on the innovative capabilities of small businesses in Korea. This study examines inter-relationship among innovation capabilities to create sustainable competitive advantages from the innovation process perspective. Data were collected by survey. We had 190 respondents of 72 Korean SMEs. Data were analyzed by using structural equation structural equation modeling(SEM) for the empirical study. Empirical results show that innovation strategy has positive effect on the firm’s innovative oriented organizational structure; the firm’s innovative oriented organization structure appears to mediate the relationship between innovation strategy and performance. Second, technological capabilities and marketing capabilities have positive effects on new product development capabilities and, new products capabilities have positive effects of the performance.

세계 경쟁 환경이 심화됨에 따라 혁신의 중요성이 다시금 부각되고 있다. 이에 따라 혁신역량에 대한 많은 연구 결과가 제시되고 있으나 대부분의 기존 연구는 혁신역량을 기능적 관점에서 분석하고 있다. 본 연구는 중소기업의 혁신역량과 성과와의 관계를 프로세스 접근법을 중심으로 체계화하여 분석한다. 분석을 위해 혁신역량을 다섯 가지 요인으로 분류하고 구조방정식을 통해 분석하였다. 실증연구는 설문조사를 통해 수집된 72개 기업 190부의 응답 자료를 바탕으로 구조방정식을 이용하여 혁신역량과 성과의 관계를 측정하였으며, 실증분석을 위해 AMOS 18.0을 이용하였다. 주요 분석결과는 다음과 같다. 혁신전략이 혁신지향형 조직구조에 긍정적인 영향을 주며, 혁신지향형 조직구조는 혁신전략과 혁신성과의 관계를 긍정적으로 매개하는 것으로 조사되었다. 기술역량과 시장역량은 제품역량에 긍정적인 영향을 미치며, 신제품역량은 기술역량, 시장역량과 혁신성과를 매개하는 것으로 나타났다.
