De Stijl is admitted as the influential art trend with the opening of the machine and industrial age in the 20th century, and is expanded not only into painting but also into various fields such as furniture, architecture, crafts, sculpture, and fashion. De Stijl developing in accordance with the needs of the times seeking practical design is continuously connected as color blocking technique up to now, and has attained a sure footing as the new fashion trend by admitting a formatively aesthetic value. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to present four contemporary designs of women's clothing by applying the color blocking technique to formativeness of De Stijl. The formative characteristics of De Stijl drawn based on theoretical consideration of a concept of De Stijl, representative artists, works, and case analysis of color blocking fashion design, include three characteristics such as color blocking applying color moderation, color blocking applying grid, and color blocking applying the geometrical split face. Expression styles of color blocking applying color moderation are a style using the three primary colors and three achromatic colors selectively and a trend adding a season trend color newly or changing and coloring within a range of color with a similar tone. Color blocking applying grid expresses proportional beauty with simple intersection and repetition of vertical and horizontal lines as same as in the past, but frequently tries to graft various fabrics according to season trend. Color blocking applying the geometrical split face is expressed by symmetrical or asymmetrical split color face with a combination of pure graphic primitives such as dot, line, face, and free fabric blocking technique. Through this study, the formative principle of De Stijl is reinterpreted as trendy fashion design by connecting formativeness of De Stijl directly to color blocking clothing.

데 스틸은 20세기 기계, 산업 시대의 개막과 함께 영향력 있는 예술사조로 인정받으며 회화뿐만 아니라가구, 건축, 공예, 조각, 패션 등의 다양한 분야로 확장되었다. 실용적인 디자인을 추구했던 시대상의 요구에맞춰 발전해온 데 스틸은 현재까지도 컬러 블로킹 기법으로 지속적으로 연계되고 있으며, 조형적 미적 가치를 인정받아 새로운 패션 트렌드로서 확고한 입지를 굳히고 있다. 이에 본 연구에서는 데 스틸의 조형성에컬러 블로킹 기법을 응용하여 컨템포러리한 여성복 디자인 4벌을 제시하는데 연구의 목적이 있다. 데 스틸의개념 및 대표 작가와 작품세계에 관한 이론적 고찰과 컬러 블로킹 패션디자인 사례 분석을 토대로 하여 도출한 데 스틸의 조형적 특징은 컬러 절제성을 응용한 컬러 블로킹, 그리드를 응용한 컬러 블로킹, 기하학적면 분할을 응용한 컬러 블로킹으로 총 3가지이다. 컬러 절제성을 응용한 컬러 블로킹의 표현 방법으로는 삼원색과 삼무채색을 선택적으로 사용하는 방법 또는 시즌 트렌드 컬러를 새로 추가하거나 유사한 톤의 컬러범위 내에서 변경하여 배색하는 경향을 보였다. 그리드를 응용한 컬러 블로킹은 과거와 동일하게 수직선과수평선의 단순 교차 및 반복을 통한 비례미를 표현하고 있으나, 시즌 트렌드에 따른 다양한 패브릭을 접목하는 시도가 빈번하게 나타나고 있다. 기하학적 면 분할을 응용한 컬러 블로킹은 점, 선, 면의 순수한 도형 요소의 조합을 활용한 대칭 또는 비대칭적인 색면 분할과 자유로운 패브릭 블로킹 기법으로 표현되고 있다. 본연구를 통해 데 스틸의 조형성을 컬러 블로킹 룩에 직접 연계함으로써 데 스틸의 조형 원리를 트렌디한 패션디자인으로 재해석 하였다.
