For the last 30 years, with the sharp increase of the Koreans’ travel and stay abroad, criminal victimizations against the Koreans in foreign countries have also been rapidly increased. This trend has been persisted since 2009. The upward trend of overseas criminal victimizations can be materialized into a specific individual’s subjective perception on criminal victimization risks. In this context, on the theme of the Koreans’ overseas criminal victimization, a study on the subjective perception on overseas criminal victimization risks is an important part as well as that of the prevalence. This study is conducted for such purpose. This study is a follow-up after the study on the prevalence of the criminal victimization on the Koreans in overseas. The purpose of the current study is to uncover factors affecting on or related to the Korean individuals’ subjective perceptions on the overseas criminal victimization risks. The meaning and practical application of the research results and the limitations of the study will be discussed.

지난 30년간 한국인들의 해외출국과 체류의 증가와 함께 해외에서의 범죄피해 역시 2009년 이후 지속적인 가파른 증가세를 보이고 있는 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 해외 범죄피해의 증가 추이는 범죄피해의 위험성에 대한 주관적 인식으로 특정 개인에게서 구체화된다. 한국인들의 해외방문, 체류 시의 범죄피해와 관련한 주제에서 범죄피해의 위험성에 대한 주관적 인식은 범죄피해 실태에 관한 연구와 함께 매우 중요한 한 부분이 된다. 이 연구는 그러한 취지에서 수행되었다. 이 연구는 “한국인들의 해외방문, 체류 시의 범죄피해”에 관한 전체 연구에서 범죄피해 실태 조사에 대한 후속연구로서의 성격을 가진다. 한국인들의 해외에서의 범죄피해 위험성에 대한 주관적 인식에 영향을 미치거나 관련성이 있는 요인들에 대한 탐색이 이 연구의 목적이 될 것이다. 연구결과의 의미와 활용방안, 그리고 제한점들이 논의될 것이다.
