The influence of theater storytelling on contemporary dance works. The 20th century is a Renaissance period of dance. Dance has become a global art with contemporary art style. In the 21st century, the fusion genre of modern dance which shows the characteristics of new genre, new style and nonverbal character, became the art and cultural status. Modern dance, which makes use of 100% of creative works, is characterized by presenting a choreographer's message on the premise of movement system. However, modern dance today has only developed in terms of movement and characteristics, and has not made progress in terms of communication with audiences. In this regard, it is necessary to examine what elements should be equipped and what the ultimate elements are in the 21st century modern dance works. The reason why storytelling elements are important in contemporary dance works is that the purpose of all works of art is 'message transmission' of writers and choreographers. In this study, we try to understand the contemporary dance works more deeply and to communicate the message of the choreographer with the audience accurately through modern dance which is a free physical language and acting or directing which is embedded in the performance.

20세기는 춤의 르네상스 시대라고 할 정도로, 춤은 현대적 예술 양식을 갖춘 범세계적 예술로 그 위상 을 굳히고 있다. 또한 21세기에 들어오면서 현대무용에는 퓨전 장르가 출현하여 새로운 장르, 새 양식과 넌버벌의 특성을 나타내는 현대무용이 예술이면서 동시에 문화로의 지위를 차지하게 되었다. 창작을 100 퍼센트 활용하는 현대무용은 움직임의 체계를 전제로 안무가의 메시지를 제시하는 것을 특징으로 한다. 그러나 요즘의 현대무용은 움직임과 특성의 측면에서만 발전을 이루었을 뿐, 관객과의 의사소통 측면에 서는 진전을 이루지 못하고 있다. 이러한 점에서 21세기 현대무용작품에는 어떠한 요소가 갖추어져야하 고 궁극적인 요소가 무엇인지에 대한 고찰이 필요하다. 현대무용 작품에 스토리텔링 요소가 중요한 이유 는 모든 예술작품의 목적은 작가 내지 안무가의 ‘메세지 전달’이다. 본 연구 에서는 신체적 언어인 현대 무용에서 공연 속에 내재 되어있는 연기와 연출적인 부분을 작품을 통해 좀 더 깊이 있게 이해하고 안무 가의 메시지를 정확하게 관객과 소통 할 수 있는 방법을 고찰하고자 한다.
