What is the meaning of religious reformation in the history of world mission? For a long time, “religious reformation” has never been considered as an important issue in missiology. When speculated from traditional missiology, it is difficult to find world mission from religious reformers. Furthermore, when one evaluates the mission during the Reformation era based on not only “comprehension on missions” prior to the nascent of the mission of God but also mission theology and faith, it is inevitable to conclude that mission was nonexistent. However, the evaluation on the influence of Reformation era in world mission can be approached differently from a perspective of Mission Dei. Considering this quincentenary of Reformationespecially in this period in which the world mission of Korean church is declining after experiencing an apex-it is extremely important and meaningful to study “Korean mission and the Reformation Agendas.” Most importantly, among the five themes of this issue, “reformation of missionaries member care system” is antimonic considering that it focuses on the topic of “member care,” one that has not yet bloomed nor developed, and studies from a reformational perspective. Nonetheless, this paper not only includes an overview, evaluation, limits, and areas to reform in this topic but also provides further suggestions with a hope for a better future of Korean mission. The author proposes that the definition of “member care” varies depending on the culture of a society or a group that one belongs, and thus, the area and recipients of the care may also vary. In relation to world mission, member care is a responsibility of everyone who is related to mission: missionaries, sponsoring churches, mission organizations, mission colleagues, and professionals in self-care. Considering the time, area, and people related to member care, it should be designed as well-rounded for a whole person. Furthermore, the two pillars of member care based on biblical evidence are “the body of Christ” and “mutual care,” thus can be summarized as a concept of each other. Member care that was lived out by Jesus Christ is a biblical model provided to us. Member care needs to be designed chronologically in levels alongside of the ministry. Therefore, the author argues that member care should take place throughout the lifespan of a missionary. Based on the research on member care and reformation of Korean church, the main areas that need to be reformed can be summarized as the following. First of all, a sponsoring organization (church, mission department, or an organization) need a reformation of their comprehension and perspective on mission. Most importantly, the perspective of member care in Korean churches should be reformed. Secondly, a reform should take place in the missiological understanding of those who are sent. When Korean churches fulfill the ministry of member care, it may be possible to prevent drop-out of missionaries but also support them to work in a more stabilized condition spiritually, mentally, and physically.

세계 선교 역사에 있어서 종교 개혁은 어떤 의미를 지니는가? 오랜 세 월 동안 ‘종교 개혁’은 선교학에서 중요한 이슈로 다뤄진 적이 거의 없다. 전통적인 선교관을 가지고 그 당시를 평가하면 종교 개혁자들에게서 세계 선교를 찾아보기가 힘들다. 그리고 하나님의 선교가 태동하기 이전의 ‘선교 에 대한 이해’, 선교 신학과 신앙에 근거해서 종교 개혁 시기의 선교를 평가 하면 선교가 전무했다는 결론을 내리게 되는 것은 당연하다. 그러나 오늘 날 Missio Dei의 관점에서 접근하면 종교 개혁 시기가 세계 선교에 있어서 어떤 역할을 감당했는지에 대한 평가는 다르게 나타날 수 있다. 종교 개혁 500주년을 맞이해서, 특별히 한국교회의 세계선교가 정점을 찍고 하향 곡 선을 그리면서 내려가는 현시점에서 “한국 선교와 개혁의 과제”에 대해서 연구하는 것은 매우 중요한 의미를 가진다. 무엇보다 특집의 소주제 5가지 중 “선교사 멤버 케어의 개혁”은 아직 꽃을 피워보지도 못하고, 성숙되지도 아니한 ‘멤버 케어’라는 영역을 ‘개혁’이라는 관점에서 연구하는 것으로 이 율배반적일 수도 있다. 그럼에도 불구하고 본 논문은 더 나은 한국 선교의 미래를 소망하면서, 이 부분에 대한 이해, 평가, 한계성, 그리고 개혁해야 할 영역을 연구하면서 새로운 대안을 제시하고자 한다. 필자의 ‘멤버 케어’에 대한 이해는 자신이 속한 사회나 단체의 성격 유 형에 따라 다르게 정의될 수 있으며, 케어의 범위, 대상 또한 달라진다고 본다. 세계 선교와 관련해서 멤버 케어는 선교와 관련된 모든 사람들-선 교사 자신, 파송 교회, 선교단체, 동료 사역자, 멤버 케어 전문가-의 책무 이다. 멤버 케어에 대한 시기, 범위, 대상 등을 살펴볼 때 멤버 케어는 전인 적 멤버 케어가 되어야 한다고 본다. 그리고 멤버 케어의 성서적 근거의 두 축은 ‘그리스도의 몸’, ‘상호 돌봄’, 즉 ‘서로서로’의 개념이다. 예수님의 멤버 케어는 성경적인 모델이다. 시간의 흐름 속에서, 사역의 단계별로 접근 하는 멤버 케어가 필요하다. 그래서 필자는 멤버 케어가 선교사의 전 생애 에 걸쳐 이루어져야 한다고 주장한다. 한국교회의 멤버케어와 개혁이라는 주제로 연구한 결과 개혁되어야 할 부분을 크게 분류해 보면 다음과 같다. 첫째는 파송을 위임받은 주체(교 회, 교단 선교부, 선교단체)들의 선교적 이해, 인식의 틀의 개혁이 필요하 다. 무엇보다 멤버 케어에 대한 한국교회의 인식이 개혁되어야 한다. 둘째 로 위임받은 자의 선교적 이해에 대한 개혁이 필요하다. 한국교회가 멤버 케어 사역을 잘 감당하게 되면 선교사의 중도 탈락을 예방할 뿐만 아니라, 선교사들이 영적으로, 정신적으로, 육적으로 안정된 가운데 사역을 감당하게 될 것이다
