Recently, the electric bus system (plug-in charging type and battery exchange type), which is an environment-friendly public transportation system has been actively discussed. This study assessed the economic feasibility of the current diesel bus and CNG bus and electric bus system. This study also analyzed the feasibility of introduction of an electric bus system as an eco–friendly transportation system. The factors of analyses were the facility construction costs, including buses and charging system, general management costs, including maintenance costs such as labor costs, and benefits of reduced vehicle operation, reduced travel time, and reduced environmental pollution costs. Based on these analyses, the economic evaluation was carried out for the branch, main, and intercity bus lines, respectively. As a result, we found that all electric bus systems were economical. Finally, we expect that the electric bus system will be more common if the technologies for the electric bus system are developed and policies for the construction and operation of the electric bus system are actively supported.

친환경 대중교통시스템인 전기버스시스템(플러그인 충전형, 배터리 교환형)의 도입논의가 활발해지고 있다. 현재 운영중인 경유버스와 이의 친환경적 대안으로 도입이 진행된 CNG버스 및 전기버스시스템과의 경제성 평가를 진행하여 친환경 수단인 전기버스시스템 도입의 타당성을 분석하였다. 버스구입, 배터리를 포함한 충전시설 등의 시설구축비용과 인건비 등의 유지관리비용을 포함한 비용부분과 차량운행절감, 통행시간절감, 환경오염절감 비용 등을 포함한 편익부분을 기초로 하여, 버스의 운행특성을 반영할 수 있는 지선, 간선, 광역 버스를 대상으로 경제성 평가를 수행하였다. 그 결과 전기버스시스템 모두가 경제성을 확보한 것으로 분석되어 향후 시스템의 기술적 발전과 구축 및 운영에 대한 정 책적 보완 등이 지원되면 전기버스시스템 도입이 더욱 활성화될 것으로 기대된다.
