In this study, the historical epistemology which was frequently mentioned in the field of culture and history was utilized as a specific methodology for university students to prepare a letter of self-introduction. Especially, suggestions were made to allow students to prepare their letter of self-introduction more efficiently through four introductory settings including ‘proposition’, ‘construction’, ‘constitutivity’ and ‘materiality’. First, ‘proposition’ means selecting and converting one of numerous incidents experienced by students into an incident of descriptive concept. In other words, students select one of various stories they experienced through a propositional reference called ‘A is B.’ Second, ‘construction’ means specific reference of three elements of history including ‘time’, ‘space’ and ‘human being’ that can be considered as core structures for expressing an incident referred by students. Especially, if the core structures are not referred, the concreteness and substantiality of such contents may deteriorate, so this part is very important. Third, ‘constitutivity’ is the part showing the progress in an incident referred by students. In other words, an incident is proceeded gradually or in phases rather than it is proceeded simply, and students often summarize such incident in a simple expression. Fourth, ‘materiality’ is the method to maximize the expression. Here, virtual concepts including ‘proper noun’, ‘symbolic number’ and ‘clear metaphor’ were set to maximize the expression of students. In this study, it was intended to extract and introduce the methodology based on the cases obtained through numerous counseling processes carried out by this author in Kwangwoon University. These contents were introduced in a daily newspaper recently, drawing attention from many students preparing for employment, and such contents were introduced intensively based on the specific counseling record. It is expected that the result of this study can be used as a clue for solving the youth unemployment problem that university students in our country are currently facing.

이 연구에서는 대학생 자기소개서 작성의 구체적인 방법론(Methodology)으로 문학과 역사의 영역에서 많이 언급되고 있는 ‘역사성’, 즉 역사인식론을 활용하였다. 특히 ‘명제성’, ‘구조성’, ‘구성성’, ‘구체성’이라는 네 가지 시론적인 설정을 통해 학생들이 보다 효율적으로 자기소개서를 작성할 수 있도록 제안하였다. 첫째 ‘명제성’은 학생들이 경험한 수많은 사건들 중에서 하나의 사건을 선택해, 서사적 개념의 사건으로 전환하는 것을 말한다. 다시 말해 ‘A는 B이다.’라는 명제적 언급으로 자신이 경험한 여러 이야기들 중에서 하나를 선택하게 되는 것이다. 둘째 ‘구조성’은 학생들이 언급한 사건을 표현함에 있어서 핵심구조라고 할 수 있는 역사의 3요소인 ‘시간’, ‘공간’ ‘인간’에 대한 구체적 언급과 표현을 말하는 것이다. 특히 핵심구조가 언급이 되지 않으면 결국 그 내용의 구체성과 실재성이 떨어지는 결과가 될 수 있기 때문에 이 부분은 대단히 중요하다고 할 수 있다. 셋째 ‘구성성’은 학생들이 언급한 사건에서 그 진행과정을 보여주는 부분이다. 달리 말해 어떤 사건의 전개는 단순히 이루어지는 것이 아니라 점층적, 혹은 단계적으로 진행이 되는데 학생들은 그저 단순한 표현으로 축약하는 경우가 대부분이다. 넷째 ‘구체성’은 표현력을 극대화하는 방법을 말한다. 여기서는 ‘고유명사’, ‘상징숫자’, 그리고 ‘선명은유’를 라는 가상적인 개념을 설정하여 학생들의 표현력을 극대화하고자 하였다. 이 연구에서는 그 동안 본 필자가 광운대학교에서 실시한 수많은 상담 과정에서 얻어진 내용을 중심으로 그 방법론을 소개하고자 하였다. 최근 이 내용들은 모 일간지에 소개되어 많은 취업 준비생들에게 관심을 끌기도 했는데, 여기서는 그 소재가 되었던 구체적인 상담기록을 바탕으로 사례를 소개하였다. 앞으로 우리나라 대학생들이 겪고 있는 청년실업의 문제를 해결함에 있어서 하나의 작은 실마리가 되기를 기대하였다.
