MSM의 음주실태 (Alcohol Use of Korean MSM)

초록

영어

Background: This study examined the factors associated with alcohol use among MSM (Men who have Sex with Men) in the Republic of Korea, as well as alcohol use frequency with male and female partners. Methods: MSM, 1,070 subjects between the ages of 19-60, completed an online survey through a popular Korean website frequented primarily by MSM, using the probability sampling method, stratified by age. Results: More respondents generally used alcohol use during anal sex with male partners than during sex with female partners (‘almost always’ or ‘frequently’ 74.3% and 48.6%, respectively; last sex act 66.7% and 51.0%, respectively). MSM were confident about using comdoml use (71.2%), and persuading their partners to use condoms (72.3%), and didn’t find it difficult to discuss comdome with their partner (78.7%). Self-efficacy for dondom use decreased with age (M=15.6 versus M=14.9, p≤ 0.1). Conclusions: Respondents used alcohol use less frequently with female partners than with male partners. Prevention programs should be aware of the increased vulnerability of female partners due to less frequent condom use. The majority of MSM expressed strong self-efficacy in their ability to use condom use with partners, but still did not use them every time. Increasing regularity of condom use is a pressing need within this high-risk group.
