The coming of the times without frontier: the present condition, task and prospect of CAMPUS Asia since 1999 summit meeting among South Korea, China, and Japan, the summit meeting in three countries has been held annually. On the third summit meeting, the three countries acknowledged the necessity of a program called CAMPUS Asia for solidarity, integrity and conflict settlement of Asia and adopted Campus Asia as their new cooperate project. The writer of this article wrote this article based on the experience as a director of CAMPUS Asia program of one high school. CAMPUS Asia is very similar to the ERASMUS program of Europe. EU strived to accomplish political integrity based on the economical unity, while on the other hand, struggled for reinforcement of European bond via educational interchange. The ERASMUS program developed fro m a simple for m of student-exchange level to the level involving multinational project or multinational joint degree project. Europe achieved their institutional stability by accumulation of experience and capability through student-exchange programs. CAMPUS Asia, like Europe, is an outstanding program capable of fostering leaders for future regional problems while establishing economical and political bond and stability in three executing countries.

1999년 11월 한중일 3국 간 첫 정상모임이 시작되어 3국 간에는 연례적으로 정상회의를소집하게 되었다. 제3차 한ㆍ중ㆍ일 정상회의에서 3국 정상들이 아시아 지역의 연대와 통합, 갈등 해소를 위해 ‘한ㆍ중ㆍ일 대학교 Campus Asia’프로그램의 필요성에 대해 공감하고 ‘한ㆍ중ㆍ일 대학교 Campus Asia’프로그램을 3국 간 신규 협력 사업으로 채택하였다. 필자는본고에서 ‘한ㆍ중ㆍ일 대학교 Campus Asia’프로그램의 한 개 사업단의 실무자로서 실제 쌓은 경험과 기존의 연구 성과를 토대로 ‘한ㆍ중ㆍ일 대학교 Campus Asia’프로그램의 현황과과제 및 전망에 대해 논의하였다. ‘한ㆍ중ㆍ일 대학교 Campus Asia’프로그램은 유럽의 에라스무스 프로그램의 한 개 모델이라고 할 수 있겠다. 유럽연합은 경제적 통일을 바탕으로 정치적 통일의 실현을 향해 도약하는 한편 교육교류를 통해 유럽통합의 토대를 강화하였다. 에라스무스 프로그램은 단순한 학생교류 차원에서 시작해 공동학위과정이나 다국 간 프로젝트를포함하는 형태로 진화해 왔다. 유럽은 장기간에 걸친 대학생 교류 경험과 역량 축적을 통해제도적 안정을 이루었다. ‘한ㆍ중ㆍ일 대학교 Campus Asia’ 역시 3국 간의 대학생 및 교수등 인적교류를 통하여 아시아의 현안 문제를 해결할 수 있는 핵심인재를 양성하는 한편 3국간의 경제적 협력과 정치적 안정을 도모할 수 있는 우수한 ‘학생 및 교수 교류 프로그램’이될 것이다.
