Taekwondo has made rapid progress in quality and quantity as the Olympics over the past century. Taekwondo been loved by people around the world as a unique culture of Korea. The government and private enterprise in South Korea has the advantage of Taekwondo as a means to create a positive image of Korea. Taekwondo has become a culture that is shared around the world. But now Taekwondo in an environment that is rapidly changing era requires a plan that can maintain and develop the identity of Korea. To continue the diplomatic value of Taekwondo is necessary to practice the following measures. First, we need to diversify its human resources to take advantage of Taekwondo. Second, it must improve access to this place ever to experience the culture and the Korea Taekwondo. Third, by increasing the utilization of media helps to easily access the information Taekwondo all around the world. As a result of the above research, Taekwondo will be able to positively improve the image of Korea to the world as the representative content of Korea. It is very important meaming for Taekwondo and Korea to make different the contents of Taekwondo from other countries.

이 연구는 외교적 수단으로서 태권도가 지닌 활용가치와 이를 지속 가능 하도록 하기 위한 방안을 규명하는데 목적으로 두고 실행되었다. 연구의 목적 달성을 위하여 활용된 연구방법은 문헌고찰과 심층면담이다. 태권도가 외교적 수단으로서 지닌 가치는 접근성, 경제성, 흥미성, 확장성으로 설명되었다. 하지만 이 가치들은 과거로 부터 변함없이 이어져와 시대와 환경의 변화에 대응력이 미흡한 것으로 평가되었다. 따라서 태권도를 지속가능한 외교 적 수단으로 활용하기 위해 제안하는 방향은 모두 세 가지이다. 첫째, 태권도를 외교적 활동에 활용할 수 있는 인적 주체 를 확대해야 한다. 둘째, 태권도를 접하는 공간에 대한 지리적 접근성을 향상 시켜야 한다. 셋째, 미디어를 활용하여 태권 도에 대한 정보 접근성을 강화해야 한다. 이렇게 제시한 연구의 결과에 따른다면 태권도는 한국을 대표하는 콘텐츠로서 세계에 한국의 이미지를 긍정적으로 고양시키는데 지속적인 역할을 수행할 수 있을 것이다. 태권도와 같은 콘텐츠들이 한국의 국가브랜드 이미지 제고에 기여하고 이러한 콘텐츠를 다른 국가들과 비교하여 차별화되게 가질 수 있다는 것은 태권도계와 국가에 있어서 매우 중요한 의미를 지닌다.
