The purpose of this study is to analyze the causal relationship between physical activity participation and individual level, household level, and regional level variables. 1 level variables were defined as individual characteristics, 2 level variables as household characteristics, and 3 level variables as regional characteristics. Dependent variable is physical activity participation, and this is a dichotomous question of "Yes" and "No". The main results of the study are as follows. 1) There were 1,979 households with no independent variables, and there were at least 1 to 5 household members. There were at least 59 members and a maximum of 1,010 members in 16 regions. The 3 level random effect and the 2 level random effect were statistically significant. 2) 1 level independent variables such as gender, age, educational level, subjective health, existence of abnormal dyslipidemia, economic activity status had significant influence on physical activity participation. 3) 2 level independent variable, household income level, had a significant effect on physical activity participation. 4) 3 level independent variable, Gross domestic product, suicide, urban park, and aging index, did not had a significant effect n physical activity participation.

본 연구는 신체활동 참여와 개인수준, 가구수준, 지역수준 변수의 인과관계를 분석하는데 그 목적이 있다. 이를 위해 3수준 Logistic HLM을 적용하였으며, 국민건강영양 조사자료와 통계청 자료를 분석에 활용하였다. 다층적 구조 분석을 위해 1수준 변수는 개인특성, 2수준 변수는 가구 특성, 3수준 변수는 지역 특성으로 정의한 뒤 독립변수로 설정 하였다. 또한 종속변수는 신체활동 참여 여부이며, “예”, “아니오”의 이분형 변수이다. 4,023명의 개인 자료와 16개 시 도 자료가 실증적 분석에 사용되었으며, Stata MP 14.0 프로그램을 이용하였다. 이에 따른 주요 연구 결과를 제시하면 다음과 같다. 첫째, 독립변수가 없는 기초모형 분석결과 1,979개의 가구가 존재하는 것으로 나타났으며, 최소 1명에서 최대 5명의 가구원이 존재하였다. 16개의 지역에는 최소 59명의 구성원과 최대 1,010명의 구성원이 존재하였다. 3수 준 무선효과와 2수준 무선효과가 통계적으로 유의하였으므로 가구효과와 지역효과가 존재하였다. 둘째, 1수준 독립변 수인 성별, 연령, 교육수준, 주관적 건강, 이상지혈증 유병 유무, 경제활동 상태 등은 신체활동 참여에 유의한 영향을 미 치고 있었으나 고혈압, 뇌졸중, 협심증, 골관절염, 천식, 당뇨병, 갑상선, 우울증 유병 유무, 음주빈도, 스트레스 인지율 등은 유의한 영향을 미치고 있지 않았다. 셋째, 2수준 독립변수인 가구 소득 수준은 신체활동 참여에 유의한 영향을 미 치고 있었으나 가구원 수는 유의한 영향을 미치고 있지 않았다. 넷째, 3수준 독립변수인 지역내 총생산, 자살자, 도시공 원, 노령화 지수는 유의한 영향을 미치고 있지 않았다.
