Suncheon Bay Wetland is a good example of a successful implementation of a sustainable development policy. This study adopts an inter-regional input-output analysisto see the economic impacts of restoration and conservation of Suncheon Bay Wetland and suggests a sustainable way of coastal wetland management. The survey from thevisitors of Suncheon Bay Wetland in 2015 shows KRW 85,019 of per capita expenditure. The highest share of visitors’ expenditure goes to meals and 47.5% of total expenditure is disbursed in Suncheon. Using the inducement coefficients of tourism in Jeonnam Province, total KRW 203.4 billion of a production inducement effect is generated and 4,494 of jobs are generatedwithin the region. Policy implications are suggested as follows: in order to enhance economic impacts of eco-tourism, the increase in visitor’s expenditure is a better way than the increase inthe number of visitors; in order to increase efficiency of investment in eco-tourism, recommended is investment in the sectors with a high share of visitor’s expenditure andhigh inducement coefficients which are restaurants and hotels.

순천만습지(Suncheon Bay Wetland)의 경우 지속가능한 개발을 성공적으로 추진해 나가고 있는 대표적인 사례이다. 본 연구는 지역산업연관분석(Inter-regional input-output analysis)을 통해 순천만습지의 경제적 파급효과를 분석하고, 지속가능한 연안습지관리 방안을 제시하고자 하였다. 2015년 순천만습지 탐방객들의 지출액을 설문조사한 결과, 1인당 평균 지출액은 85,019원으로 산출되었다. 이 중 가장 비중이 높은 지출 항목은 식사비였으며, 전체 지출 비용 중 약 47.5%가 순천 지역 내에서 지출된 것으로 조사되었다. 전남지역의 관광분야 유발계수(inducement coefficients)를 통해 순천만습지의 경제적 파급효과를 분석한 결과 2015년 동안 지역 내에 약 2,034억원의 생산유발효과(effect on production inducement)가 발생되었다. 또한 4,494명의 취업유발효과(effect on employment inducement)가 있는 것으로 산출되었다. 본 연구의 정책적 함의는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 생태관광의 경제적 효과를 증대시키기 위해서는 탐방객의 수 증가보다 지역 내 지출을 증가시키는 것이 바람직하다. 둘째, 투자의 효율성을 증가시키기 위해서는 레스토랑이나 호텔과 같이 탐방객의 지출 비중이 높고 유발효과가 큰 분야에 투자하는 것이 바람직하다.
