After entering into a low growth stage, Korea has experienced decline and decay of existing settlement areas. Especially many rural villages face depopulation and aging issues. To cope with such problems, more systematic approach and specific analysis are desired. This research reviews the concept of marginal village which results from depopulation and aging and conducts a case study analysis of Chungchengnam-do, Korea. We construct a logistic regression model with variables on natural environment, transport infrastructure, accessibility to basic service, and analyze spatial determinants of marginal villages. Based on the results of the analysis, we calculate transition probability of each spatial blocks and predict potential marginal villages from the statistical probability. Then we conclude with policy implications and future study.

우리나라는 저성장 시대에 접어들면서 기존 정주지역의 쇠퇴를 경험하고 있으며, 특히 비도시 농산어촌지역은 인구감소 및 고령화가 동시에 진행되면서 많은 마을들이 쇠퇴하고 있다. 농산어촌지역의 인구감소와 고령화 문제를 적극적으로 대응하기 위해서는 무엇보다 이에 대한 체계적인 접근과 구체적인 분석이 필요하다. 이 연구는 과소화와 고령화로 인해 대두되고 있는 한계마을의 개념을 고찰한 뒤, 충청남도 지역을 대상으로 사례분석을 수행하였다. 먼저 로지스틱 회귀모형을 기반으로 자연환경, 교통인프라, 서비스접근성 등으로 변수를 구성하여 한계마을의 발생에 영향을 미치는 공간적 영향요인을 분석하였으며, 다음으로는 도출된 로지스틱 회귀분석 결과를 기반으로 한계마을로의 통계적 전이확률을 산출하여 향후의 변화를 예측하였다. 마지막으로 한계마을 문제에 대한 정책적 시사점과 향후 과제 등을 제시하였다.
