3D printer is now considered as one of the next generation manufacturing technology. 3D printer is a device for producing the required product in a Layer-by-layer manner according to the input design. This is done by using polymer in the liquid or powder form or different types of mental as a raw material. This technology can open a new age of personalized manufacturing. Also, this could be used as the next generation technology for deep procession in various areas such as medicine and bio-industry. Ultimately, this technology will minimize the importance of mass-production and labor costs in the related industries, resulting in a major change in global manufacturing paradigm. This thesis will focus on the potential of the 3D printer as a next generation manufacturing technology and look into the latest trend in related patents.

현재 3D프린터는 차세대 생산 기술 중 하나로 주목을 끌고 있다. 3D프린터란 설계 데이터에 따라 재료 를 적층 방식(Layer-by-layer)으로 형상을 제조하는 장비이다. 액체나 파우더 형태의 폴리머나 금속 등 의 재료가 사용된다. 이러한 3D 프린터를 활용한다면 개인 맞춤형 생산 시대를 열고, 의료, 바이오 등 신사업 영역에서 차세대 정밀 가공 기술로 부상할 가능성이 크다. 궁극적으로 대량생산 시스템과 저임 노동력에 의한 경쟁력을 희석시킴으로써 글로벌 제조업 패러다임이 바뀔 것으로 예상 된다. 본 논문에서 는 차세대 생산기술로서 3D프린터의 잠재력에 주목하고 관련 특허 동향을 조사해 보고자 한다.
