There are about 2,000 tapes and 531 notes recording the fieldwork of head Lee Bohyung’s folk music. Among them, this study targets only the interview materials. Head Lee Bohyung’s the Korean minsokak(folk music) interview materials are equipped with the following merits. First, the researcher is Lee Bohyung who is a minsokak musicologist. As the researcher is Lee Bohyung, an expert who has been striving to study minsokak visiting all the spots of minsokak in his entire life, the interview quality is very high. In addition, the interview proceeds without anything unnecessary, and he collects and records data efficiently as well as concentratively in a limited time. Lee Bohyung often tries to compare minsokak of different regions or notices the interviewee’s exaggerated or distorted answer and induces him or her to correct it right away. Moreover, when the interviewee tries to perform on the spot, Lee Bohyung responses to it positively with chuimsae or such and influentially draws frank answers from the interviewee as much as possible. In other words, the biggest characteristic of head Lee Bohyung’s minsokak interview materials is that they are the result containing his in-site survey knowhow entirely. Second, they record the spots of minsokak vividly. Third, they are oriented to minsokak transmitters. The interviewees, minsokak transmitters, tend to reveal all the minsokak information they have acquired in person as well as teacher-student relationship and also talk about the groups or performers they have worked for or with. By visualizing oral interviews and providing the whole text to highlight such merits of interview materials, this author intends to build up a database as a way to enhance directness and presentness. This research will use the database so that you can experience the past spots of minsokak indirectly and see adjacency among genres centering around minsokak providers. Above all, it is expected that you will be able to acquire fieldwork research methodology for minsokak eventually.

이보형 소장 민속악 현장 조사 자료 테이프는 대략 2천여 개 분량이고, 노트는 531개 분량이다. 이 가운데 본 연구의 대상은 대담 자료만으로 한정한다. 이보형 소장 민속악 대담 자료는 다음과 같은 장점을 가지고 있다. 첫째, 조사자가 민속음악학자인 이보형이라는 점이다. 평생 동안 민속악 현장을 다니며 민속악 연구에 매진한 전문가가 조사자이기 때문에 대담의 질이 매우 높다. 대담의 진행 역시 군더더기가 없으며 한정된 녹음 시간 동안 효율적으로 채록하는 집중력을 보인다. 이보형은 즉각적으로 다른 지역의 민속악과의 비교를 시도한다거나 대담자의 과장 혹은 왜곡된 답변은 바로 확인하여 수정할 수 있도록 유도하기도 한다. 더구나 이보형은 대담자가 즉석해서 공연을 시행할 때, 추임새 등 적극적인 호응을 보내며 대담자의 진솔한 대답을 최대한으로 끌어내는 감화력이 있다. 결국 이보형 소장 민속악 대담 자료의 가장 큰 장점은 그의 현장 조사 노하우가 통째로 담긴 결과물이라는 점이라고 하겠다. 둘째, 20세기 전․후반의 민속악 현장이 또렷이 기록되었다는 점이다. 셋째, 민속악 전승자 중심의 기록이라는 점이다. 민속악 전승자인 대담자는 자신이 직접 배운 모든 민속악 정보와 학습의 사사 관계 등에 대해서 증언하며, 활동했던 단체와 공연자들에 대해서도 증언한다. 이러한 대담 자료의 장점이 부각될 수 있도록 구술 대담 내용을 시각화하여 채록문 전체를 이용자에게 제공함으로써 직접성과 현장성을 높이는 방법으로 데이터베이스를 구축하고자 한다. 본 데이터베이스를 활용한다면 20세기 전․후반의 민속악 현장을 간접적으로 체험할 수 있고, 민속악 전승자를 중심으로 한 장르 간 인접성을 통한 민속악 연구의 진일보한 성과를 기대할 수 있을 것이다. 무엇보다도 본 데이터베이스를 통해서 궁극적인 민속악 현장 조사 방법론을 체득할 수 있을 것으로 기대된다.
