This study examines the issues and problems of hatred, currently emerging all over the globe. Especially, we analyzed the discourse of hatred in South Korea in the context of neoliberalism. In so doing, this study examines the political, social and cultural background in which such discourses of hatred are produced by focusing on the cases of 'Ilbe' and 'Megalia', two Korean online community sites. First, we examined the effect of globalization under the neoliberal system through the precedent studies for analysis. We also looked at how the economic crisis relates to the discourse of hatred in this period. For this, we analyzed the ‘Ilbe' and 'Megalia', known for controversial online community sites, actively creating the discourse of hatred today. In terms of a methodological consideration, we utilized Norman Fairclough's critical discourse analysis in analyzing the posts and comments of 'Ilbe' and 'Megalia' sites. Users of 'Ilbe' and 'Megalia' sites were expressing their undue anxiety through hate speeches about their unstable economic and social status under the neoliberal system. The discourse of hatred or patterns of hate speeches shows a certain tendency that critical social and structural contradictions arising from the neoliberal economic system were trivialized and/or privatized, and tends to expand an extreme and distorted form of identity politics.

이 연구는 오늘날 전 지구적으로 나타나고 있는 혐오의 문제에 주목하고, 하나의 사례로서 한국에서 생산되고 있는 혐오 담론을 신자유주의라는 맥락을 통해 탐색하고자 하였다. 이를 위해 이 연구는 한국의 인터넷 커뮤니티 사이트인 일간베스트저장소와 메갈리아 사이트를 사례로 혐오 담론이 생산되고 있는 정치적, 경제적, 문화적 배경을 살펴보고자 했다. 우선 선행 연구를 통해 신자유주의 체제 하에 확장된 세계화의 영향이 지역적 층위에서 어떻게 발현되었는지, 그리고 이러한 시대적 상황에서 경제 위기는 혐오 담론과 어떠한 연관성이 있는지 살펴보았다. 또한 한국 사회에서 혐오 담론이 어떻게 생성되었는지, 나아가 그 사회문화적 파급효과는 무엇인지 살펴보았다. 연구방법으로는 페어클로우의 비판적 담론분석의 틀을 활용하여 텍스트적 실천, 담론적 실천, 사회적 실천의 층위에서 일베와 메갈리아 사이트의 게시글과 댓글을 분석하였다. 일베와 메갈리아 사이트의 이용자들은 혐오 발화를 통해 신자유주의 체제 아래 자신들의 미래와 경제적, 사회적 지위에 대한 불안을 표출하고 있음을 알 수 있었다. 이러한 경제적, 사회적 지위에 대한 불안함은 역설적이게도 개인이 저항하거나 대응하기 어려운 구조의 문제에 분노하기보다, 가시적이고 비교적 상대하기 쉬운 소수자들, 또는 개인들을 향한 조롱과 분노를 내포한 혐오의 언술로 발화되고 있음을 알 수 있었다. 이러한 발화 유형은 신자유주의 체제로 인해 발생한 구조적 모순을 외면하거나 사사화하고, 극단적이며 왜곡된 정체성의 정치를 확장하고자 하는 모습을 보여주고 있었다.
