Recently, there is an increase of national and international professional golf events in Korea. In order to capture spectators’attention and expectation and sponsorship sides, there is a need to create efficient and effective tournaments. With these backgrounds, the purpose of study is to identify professional golf tournament’s functional areas, and the importance of each functional areas as domestic single sport event category. This study collected tournament balance sheets and utilized itemization and categorization for drawing functional areas. Additionally, to evaluate each functional areas’ importance, this study calculated rates with overall cost by the sum of each functional area cost. Results presented five functional areas: event monitoring and client relations, marketing and public relations, venue and facility, event management, and general affair. Moreover, event monitoring and client relations showed to be the most important followed by venue and facility. Therefore, there is a need to distribute limited resources to each functional area making efficient and effective sport events. From this evidence, the results of this study can be basis for these efforts.

국내프로골프대회 수는 증가 추세에 있으며 관람객 및 기업 스폰서의 관심과 기대치가 상승함에 따라 국내프로골프이벤트 개최에 있어 효율성 및 효과성을 극대화시키기 위한 노력들이 나타나고 있다. 이러한 배경으로 본 연구의 목적은 국내 단일 종목 스포츠 이벤트인 프로골프대회의 결산자료를 바탕으로 기능영역을 분류하여 제시하고 각 기능영역의 중요도를 검증하여 도출하는 것이다. 결과 도출을 위해 수집된 국내 프로골프대회 결산서를 기반으로 범주화 및 항목화 실시하였으며 이를 통해 기능영역을 제시하였다. 또한 도출된 각 기능영역의 중요도 검증을 위해 소요된 비용이 전체비용에서 차지하는 비율을 산출하는 방법으로 이를 분석하였다. 도출된 결과를 살펴보면 대회관리 및 대외협력, 마케팅 및 홍보, 경기장 및 시설, 이벤트 관리, 지원 영역이 도출되었으며 대회관리 및 대외협력과 경기장 및 시설이 각각 첫 번째와 두 번째로 차지하는 비율이 높은 것으로 나타났다. 효율적및 효과적으로 스포츠이벤트를 운영하기 위해서는 한정된 자원을 적절하게 분배해야 할 필요성이 있으며 이러한관점에서 본 연구 결과가 하나의 근거로서 활용될 수 있다고 판단된다.
