This study aims at investigating and clarifying the aesthetic elements inherent to golf. Before examining the aesthetic elements of golf, the discussion on aesthetics in sports was conducted starting from the concept definition for aesthetics. It can be seen that the aesthetics in sports is divided into 'aesthetic sports' and 'goal-oriented sports.' 'Aesthetic sports' have its means and purpose dealing with the aesthetic area, and 'goal-oriented sports' have aesthetic elements naturally exhibited in the process of pursuing victory. Among such, golf is a 'goal-oriented sport' which naturally exhibits aesthetic elements during the game, which is different from other sports. General sports are mainly concerned with the inherent beauty or physical beauty from the actions of the players, but golf has a peculiar format where the harmony of physical beauty and natural beauty, combined with internal beauty. In this study, each of such aesthetic elements of golf was discussed and defined.

이 연구는 골프에 내재된 미학적 요소를 탐색하고 규명하는 데 목적이 있다. 골프의 미학적 요소를 파악하기에앞서 미학에 대한 개념 정의부터 시작하여 스포츠에서의 미학에 대한 논의를 진행하였다. 스포츠에서의 미학은‘미적인 스포츠’와 ‘목적이 있는 스포츠’로 구분하여 나타난다는 것을 알 수 있다. ‘미적인 스포츠’는 수단과 목적 자체가 미적인 영역을 다루는 것이며, ‘목적이 있는 스포츠’는 승리 추구의 과정 중 자연스럽게 나오는 미적인 요소를 의미한다. 그 중에서 골프는 ‘목적이 있는 스포츠’로서 경기 도중 자연스럽게 미적인 요소가 나타남을 알 수 있는데, 이는 여타 스포츠와는 차이가 있다. 일반적인 스포츠는 선수의 몸동작에서 나오는 신체미나 내재적 미가 주를 이룬다고 할 수 있는데, 골프에서의 미적인 요소는 신체미와 자연미의 조화, 그리고 내적인 미가 결합된 독특한 형태라 할 수 있다. 이 연구에서는 문헌고찰 연구방법을 활용하여 골프에서의 미적인요소를 각각 논의하고, 정의하였다.
