The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of parental attachment on personality and spiritual development of young adults. One of the recent issues has been a character education in Korea. Modern society experiences loss of humanity due to industrialization and urbanization. As a result, various humanity problems are being raised in home, school and society. To overcome this reality, the government enacted the Humanity Education Promotion Act and conducted personality education in schools of all levels. The government is attempting to set human values in the era of humanity loss by educating the values such as etiquette, filial piety, honesty, responsibility, respect, caring, communication, and cooperation. However, personality education should be done through the relationship between parents and children at home before it is implemented in secondary education institutions such as schools. The Bible emphasizes humanity. Biblical humanity education can be accomplished by restoring the image of God, restoring a new inner man and bearing the fruit of the Holy Spirit. The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of parental attachment in the home on youth personality and spiritual development using quantitative research methods. The results of this study were as follows: First, the effects of childhood parental attachment on young personality development were investigated. In particular, father attachment affected the cognitive domain of personality development and mother attachment influenced the affective domain of personality development. On the other hand, both the father and the mother did not affect the behavioral domain of personality development. Second, attachment to parents in childhood influenced the development of spirituality in young adulthood. Especially, attachment to father was found to affect religious well – being and existential well – being in young adulthood. Third, spiritual development influenced personality development. The motivation of inner faith to express mature faith affected the cognitive, affective, and behavioral domains of humanity. Based on these results, the researchers presented four important Christian educational implications.

본 연구는 청년이 인지한 아동기 부모와의 애착관계가 청년기 인성과 영성발달에 어떠한 영향을 미치는지를 살펴보는 논문이다. 최근 한국사회의 핵심 화두는 인성교육이다. 현대사회가 산업화와 핵가족화를 겪으면서 전통적으로 중요하게 생각해왔던 인간에 대한 본질적인 가치인 인성을 중요시하는 풍토가 약화되었고 그 결과 가정, 학교, 사회 등에서 다양한 양상으로 비인간적인 문제들이 야기되고 있다. 이는 모두 인간성 상실로 인한 결과라 하겠다. 이러한 현실을 극복하기 위해 정부는 인성교육진흥법을 제정하여 각급 학교에서 인성교육을 실시하고 있다. 예, 효, 정직, 책임, 존중, 배려, 소통, 협동과 같은 가치들을 교육하여 인간성 상실의 시대에 인간의 본질적 가치를 세우려는 시도를 하고 있다. 그러나 이러한 시도에 대하여 근본적인 물음이 있는데 그것은 바로 인성교육이 학교와 같은 2차 교육기관에서만 실시해야 하는 것인가 하는 것이다. 인성교육은 본질적으로 1차적 교육기관인 가정에서 이루어져야 하는 것이다. 특히 가정 내에서 부모와 자녀 간의 친밀한 애착관계를 통해서 부모로부터 인격적인 가치와 삶을 본받고 실천해야 한다. 이것이 우선되어야만 이후 학교나 교회와 같은 2차적 교육기관에서 행하는 인성교육이 실효를 거둘 수 있을 것이다. 성경은 인간됨에 대하여 강조한다. 성경적 의미의 인성교육은 하나님의 형상을 회복하는 것으로써 새로운 속사람을 회복하여 성령의 열매를 맺도록 함으로 성취될 수 있다. 이는 가정과 교회와 같은 신앙교육 기관에서 인성의 회복을 위해 지향해야 할 과제이다. 본 연구에서는 가정 내에서 이루어지는 부모 자녀간의 애착이 청년기 인성 및 영성발달에 어떤 영향을 미치는지 알아보기 위해 양적연구 방법을 활용하여 연구하였다. 연구결과 첫째, 아동기 부모 애착이 청년기 인성 발달에 영향을 미치는 것으로 조사되었다. 특히 아버지 애착은 인성의 인지적 영역에 영향을 미쳤으며 어머니 애착은 인성의 정의적 영역에 영향을 미쳤다. 반면 인성의 행동적 영역에는 아버지 어머니 모두 영향을 미치지 못하였다. 둘째, 아동기 부모와의 애착은 청년기 영성발달에도 영향을 미쳤다. 특히 아버지와의 애착은 청년기의 종교적 안녕감 및 실존적 안녕감에 영향을 미치는 것으로 조사되었다. 셋째, 영성발달이 인성발달에 영향을 미쳤다. 성숙한 신앙을 나타내는 내적신앙동기가 인성의 인지적, 정의적, 행동적 영역에 영향을 미쳤다. 이러한 연구 결과를 토대로 네 가지 중요한 기독교교육적 함의를 제시하였다. 첫째, 건강한 인성을 소유하기 위해서는 가족의 건강성을 회복시켜야 한다. 둘째, 자녀의 인성계발을 위해서 부모의 상호보완적이고 협업적인 역할과 강점을 활용하는 것이 필요하다. 셋째, 인성발달을 위해 가정, 교회, 학교의 유기적 협력관계를 견고히 해 나가야 한다. 넷째, 인성발달을 위해 신앙교육을 더욱 철저히 시켜야 하며 신앙교육의 내용이 인성계발의 측면과 연결되도록 해야 한다. 본 연구는 인성발달을 위해 가정에서의 부모자녀간의 건강한 애착이 중요하며 신앙교육 역시 인성계발과 연계되어야 함을 보여주었다는데 의미가 있다.
