The importance of freedom in the Bible reveals the liberation from suppressing social conditions. This freedom supports the freedom of the socially discriminated people by law and institutions. This freedom working for others is grounded in the serving power taught by Jesus Christ and achieves diakonical action for the weak in society. The freedom of diakonia is founded by these centerpieces that work for others living in the world created by God. The core of this is based on the biblical principle, only faith, only grace, only scripture as a canon for the church and the life of the believers. The true freedom of the justified believers in God liberates all people from the suppressing structures of society and makes them free in Jesus Christ. This unique importance of freedom of Christians urges to a distinct church order which liberates believers in our time from captivity in any church and liberates the socially deprived that are victimized by socio-economic conditions. These reformatory church orders call for a reform of church liturgy and church office based on the Bible and they bring about a ban on begging by furthering work for all. People are only supported by offering them help to help themselves, thus creating a solution for most social problems within the horizon of the Kingdom of God that creates new community life. All these reformatory activities are only created by God's grace which liberates to believe in justification. The consequences resulting from this study show us why, almost five hundred years ago, the reformation happened. Although the reformation was originally a religious event it had far-reaching effects on theology and the Roman Catholic Church and also cultural, political, social repercussions in history. Therefore it was a worldwide event that can be assessed as an unparalleled event. In our time the Korean churches that are founded on that reformation must recognize the connection between the nature of diakonia and the Kingdom of God. Korean churches must accept a challenge and a task in order to create justice for church and society by the proved ways and means of diakonia.

성서에 나타난 해방과 자유의미는 인간의 삶을 억압하는 모든 조건들로부터 자유하게 하는 것으로 억압받는 자들의 권리를 법과 제도를 통해 보호하며, 예수그리스도의 섬기는 통치에 기초해서 타자를 섬기고 돌보는 자유로서 사회적 약자들을 돌보는 디아코니아실천이었다. 성서를 교회와 신앙인의 삶을 잣대로 삼은 종교개혁자들의 핵심테제 진술인“오직 믿음으로”, “오직 은혜로만”, “오직 성서로만”에 나타난 자유개념은 하나님의 창조사역 속에서 이웃을 위한 봉사와 섬김의 자유를 의미한다. 진정한 칭의 신앙인의 자유는 인간을 성별, 인종, 교육정도, 경제력, 사회적 배경과 사회적 지위에 의해 억압하는 것들로 부터 해방시켜 “그리스도 안에서 하나”로 동등해진 자유인으로 만들어 준다. 이러한 자유의미의 동력이 그 당시 교회의 포로가 된 신앙인을 자유하게 하며, 사회경제적으로 억압당하는 사회적 약자들을 해방시키는 교회법령을 제정하였다. 이러한 개신교 교회법령들은 성서에 근거한 예배예전을 비롯한 교회직무를 개혁하였고, 구걸을 금지하며, 노동을 장려하였고, 스스로 자립하도록 돕는 체계적인 돌봄으로 사회문제들을 해결함으로 하나님나라지평에서 더불어 사는 공동체적 삶을 제시하였다. 그런데 이 모든 디아코니아행동은 칭의 신앙에 근거한 오직 하나님의 은혜에 의한 돌봄 활동이었다. 이 연구로부터 얻은 결과는 우리에게 왜 500여 년 전 종교개혁이 분명한 종교적 사건임에도 교회와 신학뿐 아니라, 역사 속에서 문화적, 정치-사회적인 영향을 준 세계사적 사건으로 평가될 수 있는 지에 대한 의미를 인식케 한다. 오늘날 종교개혁에 맞닿아 있는 한국 개신교 신앙인과 교회와 신학은 하나님나라를 향한 디아코니아존재로 인식하며 교회와 사회를 섬김으로 정의로운 세상 만들기에 앞장서야 하는 과제를 가진다.
