"Arirang" is Korea’s one of the most well known traditional folk songs. It is a song that uses "Arirang, arirang, ara-ri-yo" in its chorus and lyrics. Depending on the different regions of Korea, each distinctive regional "Arirang" has been inherited down. The lyrics of "Arirang" deal with a variety of different subjects. Due to its simple and literary lyrics and melody, it is very easy to ad-lib the song, easy to sing after hearing it once, and also very easy to sing as a group. The characteristic of "Arirang" is that it respects the creativity and the freedom of expression of one individual. Moreover, "Arirang" is dealt and applied in various movies, musicals, dances, and literature pieces. For the above reasons, "Arirang" was registered as the Intangible Cultural Heritage of 2012. This report deals with the value and characteristics of "Arirang." It will look at the practical usage examples of “Arirang” contents according to each region and the government’s support policy. Through this, it is targeted to provide development methods for the ‘Jeollanamdo Provincial Gugakdan“ using “Arirang” as the performance content. “Jeollanamdo Provincial Gugakdan” must focus on developing “Arirang” related program and enhancing the quality of “Arirang” applied programs rather than focusing on facility investment. For the development method of performance contents programs, the below have been provided. First, to develop a brand of “Arirang. ” Second, to develop “Arirang” performance programs. Third, to establish an academic research and archives for “Arirang. ” Fourth, to develop an educational program on “Arirang. ” Last, to develop an “Arirang” program that can be well acknowledged by both South Korea and North Korea. In the near future, a practical program needs to be developed through a more in-depth research. Many policies and support plans have come up after “Arirang” was registered as the Intangible Cultural Heritage by UNESCO. In order for this plan to be successful and not be a rain in the parade that can often be seen in national events, there needs to be development-distribution of a lot of different programs using “Arirang. ” Also, everyone has to work together so that the related agencies’ continuous support and public interest does not fade away.

‘아리랑’은 한국의 대표적인 민요이다. ‘아리랑’은 기본적으로 ‘아리랑, 아리랑, 아라리요’를 포함한 후렴구와 가사로 이루어진 노래군을 가리키며, 지역마다 독특한 ‘아리랑’이 전승된다. ‘아리랑’의 노랫말은 다양한 주제를 다루며, 단순하면서도 문학적인 가사와 음률 덕택에 즉석에서 지 어 부르기, 따라 하기, 함께 부르기 등이 쉽다.‘ 아리랑’은 인간 창의성, 표현의 자유 등을 존중한다는 데 그 특징이 있다. 또한‘ 아리랑’은 영화, 뮤지컬, 춤, 문학작품 등 다양한 예술분야의 주제로 활용되고 있다.‘ 아 리랑’은 이러한 연유로 2012년 인류무형문화유산으로 등재되었다. 본 연구는 ‘아리랑’의 가치와 특성을 알아보고 각 지역의 아리랑 콘텐츠 활용사례 및 정부의 지원정책을 파악하여 이를 바탕으로 ‘전남도립국악단’의 ‘아리랑’을 소재한 공연 콘텐츠 개발방안 제시를 목적으로 한다. ‘전남도립국악단’은 시설투자 보다는 ‘아리랑’ 관련 프로그램 개발 및 ‘아리랑’ 활용 프로그램의 질적인 향상에 초점을 맞춰 나가야 한다. 공연 콘텐츠 프로그램 개발 방안으로는 첫째 ‘아리랑’ 브랜드 개발, 둘째 ‘아리랑’ 공연프로그램 개발, 셋째 ‘아리랑’ 학술조사 및 아카이브 구축, 넷째 ‘아리랑’ 교육프로그램 마련, 마지막으로 남북이 공감할 수 있는‘ 아 리랑’ 프로그램 개발을 제시하였다. 향후에는 보다 심층적인 연구를 통해 실증적 프로그램 개발이 필요하다. 우리의 ‘아리랑’이 유네스코 인류무형유산으로 등재되면서 많은 지원 정책과 계획들이 쏟아지고 있다. 이 같은 계획이 국가적인 이벤트에서 흔히 볼 수 있는 말의 성찬(盛饌) 이 되지 않기 위해서는 ‘아리랑’을 활용 한 다양한 프로그램의 개발ㆍ보급, 관계기관의 지속적인 지원과 국민적 관심이 끊이지 않도록 모두가 노력해야한다
