Donhak national unification society is made as the entity as the society for the national unification. "The Society(Dongminhoe) is made in 1991 for the purpose of "Realization of Donghak idea in society and realization of self-realization, democratization and unification". Dongminhoi is made up for the role of Chundogyo belief system. It is the forward group for the call of history and high good society. In order to realize its vision of Heaven-on earth, Donghak(Chondogyo) endlessly sought ways to combine religion with politics as its Gyo-jong-il-chi and Gyo-jong-ssang-jon ideas stipulated. A practical expression of Gyo-jong-il-chi appeared in Donghak's Hu-chon-gai-byok doctrine and a vanguard organization, the Chongwudang Party, was organized to put this political doctrine into practice. The political ideas of Chongwudang can indeed be considered as the modern expression of the political ideas of Donghak and the very embodiment of Hu-chon-gai-byok idea originally articulated by Suwun Choi Jai-wu, the founder of Donghak philosophy. This is particularly so because the fundamental aim of Chongwudang was to realize an ideal society on earth based on the In-nai-chon thesis. The principles and basic orientations for national reunifications is said suggested by Chondogyo. 1. Spiritual Innovation(gae-byok and Dong-gwi-il -che) 2. Self-reliance and Neutrality 3. Peace and Democracy 4. Liberty and Equality The vision of unified mother land idealized by Chondogyo 1. The Chosun is desirable because of historically rooted meaning and National flag is desirable for "Taekeukgi" 2. The our unified mother land must be civilization in morality. 3. Liberal democracy state of national independence 4. The state of being respect for individual identity 5. The state of economic institutions by Dong-gwi-ill- che spirit This movement should be continued in any difficulty and the high call of Chundogyo is realized.

천도교 통일운동의 전위단체로 결성된 것이 동학민족통일회이다. (이하 동민회) 동민회는 “동학이념의 사회적 구현과 민족의 자주, 민주, 통일을 실현”하는 목적으로 1991년 등장했다. 즉, 동민회는 천 도교의 정의 영역을 담당하고자 이 땅에 태어났다는 것이다. 동민회 는 과거 동학 천도교의 위대한 이상과 실천성을 계승하고 그들이 구상한 지상천국 이상사회를 구현해야 할 역사적 숙명을 지닌 천도 교 활동공간의 전위단체인 것이다. 천도교는 교정쌍전에 입각해 창도 이래로 오랜 기간을 한국 민족 주의 운동의 핵심에 있었다고 할 수 있다. 그것은 천도교 청우당으 로 대표되는 전위단체에 의해서 행해 졌는데 청우당은 후천개벽을 이 땅에 실현하고자 계몽운동, 문화운동 그리고 민족통일운동을 주 도했었다. 이 시대 천도교의 전위단체는 동민회이고 그 활동의 중심 에는 통일운동이 있다고 할 수 있다. 통일운동이 가장 현실적인 곳 에서 이루어지는 것이라면 종교의 통일운동은 민족의 삶의 이상을 제시하는 미래지향적이어야 한다. 종교의 통일운동은 다소 비현실적 이라도 원대한 이상과 목표를 제시한다는 점에서 가장 큰 의의가 있을 것이다. 여기서는 창도이래 민족운동에 가장 앞섰던 천도교의 통일운동을 그들이 제시하는 통일 이념과 원칙 그리고 기본 방향을 소개하고자 한다. 이 같은 전통을 바탕으로 천도교의 통일의 원칙과 기본방향 ①精神開闢(gai-byok)과 同歸 一體(Dong-gwi-il-che), ②自主와 中立, ③ 平和와 民主, ④自由와 平等이고 이들이 이상 하는 통일 조국상은 다음과 같다. 첫째. 통일조국의 國號는 上古때부터 우리 조상들이 써오던 朝鮮 으로 하고 國旗는 역사상 처음으로 제정된 太極旗로 한다. 둘째. 우리의 통일조국은 道德文明 先進國이어야 할 것이다. 셋째. 우리의 統一祖國은 民族自主의 理想的 民主國家가 되어야 한다. 넷째. 우리의 통일조국은 人間을 지극히 尊重하는 나라가 되어야 한다. 다섯째. 우리의 統一祖國은 同歸一體의 정신에 맞는 새로운 경제 제도가 실현되어야 한다. 천도교 이념에 입각한 동민회의 통일운동은 많은 한계에도 불구 하고 계속되어야 한다.
