In this paper I present some arguments about the meaning of the ‘Gaebyeok-Thought of Donghak’(동학 개벽사상) from the philosophy of history. Especially I put more emphasis to the convergence of the necessity of nature and the freedom of human in the the Gaebyeok-Thought. The Gaebyeok-Thought has a meaning of the philosophy of history, because there are the ultimate principle, its method and vision of the future in the Gaebyeok-Thought. It's important philosophical characteristic elements are the dialectic of the fullness of life-energy(至氣) and the Hanullim(天主), the immanent and the transcendent in incantation of twenty-one letters(21자 주문), the dialectic of the necessity and freedom, logical time and natural time in Gaebyeok-Thought, The Fortune Outlook(時運觀) is the convergence of the two elements. I want to stress that the Gaebyeok-Thought is based on the Spirit-Gaebyeok which is realized by the incantation of twenty-one letters, Susimjunggi(守心正氣) etc.,the Fortune Outlook is logical time and spiritual time that is mediated by the mundane time and simultaneously eternal, and the Gaebyeok-Thought is medium of necessity of nature and freedom of human through the Fortune Outlook.

한국 근대사에서 동학의 개벽사상은 시대의 모순과 분열을 극복하여 절망에 빠진 민중들에게 새 시대의 희망을 주고 새로운 사회를 건설하고자 제시되었던 동학의 핵심 사상이다. 동학은 19세기 후반 봉건세력의 부패와 서세동점의 외세의 침입그리고 이것을 극복할 수 있는 사상의 부재와 같은 총체적인 시대의 모순을 극복하기 위해 창도되었다. “시천주”라는 주문공부를 통해서 누구나 한울님이 될 수 있고각자위심의 마음에서 벗어나 “오심즉여심”의 보편적인 마음을 통해 “동귀일체”되는평등한 사회의 비전을 보여준 것이 동학의 개벽사상이다. 이 논문의 목적은 동학의개벽사상이 담고 있는 역사철학적 의미를 밝혀보려는 데 있다. 시대의 분열과 모순을 어떤 철학과 논리에 의해 극복하려고 했는지 그리고 그 논리와 철학 그리고 시대정신이 어떤 역사철학적인 의미를 지니는지 이론적인 측면에 주안점을 두어 논의하였다. 제2장에서는 개벽 사상의 이념적 기반이 되는 21자 주문에 나타난 동학 신관의특성을 내재성과 초월성의 이원성으로 논의했으며, 3장에서는 개벽사상의 존재구조를 실체성, 변화성, 존재성, 한계성의 측면에서 밝히고 자연필연성과 인간의 자율성의 이원성과 통일성이 개벽사상의 논리임을 밝혔다. 제4장에서는 동학의 개벽사상의 역사철학적 의미로 정신 개벽의 강조, 시운관, 자연의 필연성과 인간의 자율성의 융합을 제시하였다.
