The Influence of Perfectionism, Anxiety and Achievement Goal Orientation on Academic Procrastination

In this study, the effects of perfectionism, anxiety, achievement goal orientation and academic procrastination in college students was evaluated. The study used 444 students (male 231, female 213 ) who were measured on academic procrastination, anxiety, and perfectionism, using a questionnaire consisting of goal orientation scale measures. In addition, the present study used correlation analysis and multiple linear regression analysis. Correlation analysis, anxiety and academic procrastination was statistically significant showing a positive correlation. Perfectionism and achievement goal orientation showed a significant negative correlation with academic procrastination. In addition, regression analysis shows anxiety, Trait anxiety with regards to academic procrastination appeared to affect static, self-oriented perfectionism and the performance approach in regard to goal orientation of the academic procrastination influence. This paper will discuss the results of the study, as well its limitations and suggestions to monitor and improve academic conditions for students in the future.
