The Mediating Effects of Ambivalence over Emotional Expressiveness and Maladaptive Emotion Regulation Strategies on Disconnection and Rejection Schemas and Interpersonal Problems

The purpose of this study is to examine the mediating effects of ambivalence over emotional expressiveness and maladaptive emotion regulation strategies on disconnection and rejection schemas and interpersonal problems. The structural equation model the mediating effects of ambivalence over emotional expressiveness and maladaptive emotion regulation strategies on disconnection and rejection schemas and interpersonal problems. Towards this end, data was collected targeting 471 university students located in Seoul and Sejong-si. The results were as follows. First, the structural model of disconnection and rejection schemas, ambivalence over emotional expressiveness, maladaptive emotion regulation strategies, and interpersonal problems were proved to be valid. Second, the pathway between disconnection and rejection schemas and interpersonal problems was partially mediated by ambivalence over emotional expressiveness and maladaptive emotion regulation strategies. Through these results, disconnection and rejection schemas had influence on interpersonal problems significantly. Ambivalence over emotional expressiveness and maladaptive emotion regulation strategies were affected by disconnection and rejection schemas has effect on interpersonal problems.
