Donghak was founded by Suun Choi Jeu had a ideology for utopian nation in the crisis in identity Chosun Dynasty. It endeavors toward a good society in antifeudalism and independence state. Renovation for a utopian nation was people's hope for new life and new society. choi Jeu influenced people in the age and enlightened people's consciousness for a new community. The view of renovation in Suun thought is a equality society and need for a democratic order. The thought of God in my mind is a creed human being as religious mind. Everyone has a unique existence in his God in his mind. The mind of people is heaven and therefore everyone must be given the right of individual happiness and economic life. Everyone is a Heaven in political order and absolute existence. The New Mind in creed in Suun is a self-enlightened man of utopian hope and the will to establish the new society. Material force Heaven gives the new man in accordance with the belief system for new nation movement. It was revolution of modern society for Chosun dynasty. Sincerity, mindfulness and belief are Essence of character in teaching of Suun. In Suun teaching the utopian order is not a ideal but a reality order in political movement. The value of establishing creed is essence in activity. The New Man is the morality for new society and the community of great man. The association for political order for new creed is Chungwoodang(Chungwoo political renovation association). Since the Suun awakening experience after sixty years. It was made by his believers. It was a spiritual mind and political movement in society. Philosophy and belief in mind is a need for social renovation movement. The order of Heaven is for establishing in the earth. The love for people in earth is their belief system. the end spiritual mind is possibility of everyone practice and endeavor for the new man.

수운 최제우에 의해 창도된 동학은 조선봉건사회의 해체기에 발생한 민족이념으로서 그것은 특히 당시의 피폐화된 민중의 힘을 하나로 결집시키어 반봉건 반외세운동의 구심적 역할을 완수해 지상에서의 군자국가 건설을 목표했다. 개벽의 이름으로 동학은 그때까지의 민중적 사고의 총결산이자 그들의 이상적 세계관이 수운 최제우를 통하여 구체적인 이상사회의 건설로 완결된 것이다. 수운의 개벽관에서 인간평등의 원리는 가장 민주주의적인 이념에 가깝다고 할 수 있다. 즉, 인간은 누구나 천을 모신 존재라는 시천주의 사상은 곧 인간이 하늘이므로 인간을 이 우주의 가장 최고최영의 자리에 위치한 위대한 존재로 보는 것이다. 또 수운이 지향했던 이상적 사회의 모습은 시천주를 자각한 신인간들의 세상이다. 안과 밖으로 한울님의 마음과 기운을 회복하므로, 한울사람으로서의 삶을 살아갈 때에 비로소 신인간의 민중적 자각을 해낼 수 있다는 것이다. 따라서 수운의 가르침에 의한 ‘민중적 자각’이란 단순한 체제혁명을 기도하는 것이 아니라, 우리의 습관적인 삶을 새로운 질서에 의한 새로운 차원의 삶으로 바꾸는 ‘삶의 개벽’을 의미한다. 삶의 개벽을 이루는 신인간은 도성덕립으로 완성된다. 동학에서의 신인간의 도성덕립은 성․경․신을 통하여 이루어진다고 본다. 즉 성ㆍ경ㆍ신은 인격 완성의 길인 것이다. 수운 최제우에게서 추구되는 동학적 이상국가의 구상은 종교적 차원의 비현실적인 가상의 세계가 아니라 구체적인 현실세계에서의 인간들의 삶의 변화를 목표로 한다는데 그 특징이 있다. 그것은 후천개벽의 단계를 통하여 내부적으로는 구성원들의 도성덕립이 이루어지는 새로운 인간(新人間)들의 세상, 이른바 군자공동체의 실현을 목표로 한다. 수운의 득도 이후 60여년 뒤에 탄생하는 천도교 청우당은 수운이 구상한 이상사회를 현실세계에서 구체화시키기 위한 정치적 결사체였다. 그것이 비록 종교적 외피를 쓰고 있었지만 내용은 전적으로 수운의 이념과 사상을 계승해 실현가능한 이상적 국가를 설계하고 있다. 이를 통해 수운의 이상적 사회질서는 종교적 영성의 세계에 머무는 것이 아니라 실생활 속에서 구현될 수 있는 가능성을 증명하는 것이라고 할 수 있다.
