This paper aims firstly to analyze the actual condition of humanities education based on conceptual analysis of the humanities and humanities education generally ideology, objectives, significance. This paper argue that humanities and humanities education has to prepare for the correct direction of civic humanities education. So chapter 2 and 3 focuses on the analysis of the problems of the education in humanities that is performing in high-schools and universities. it must be indicated that in high-school the humanities education does not play its radical role, since it just focuses on the achievement of the basic knowledge in each sub-disciplines in humanities. The genuine quality that humanities education seeks for does not come from this, thus we cannot say that high-school students is receiving actual humanities education in good way. In high-school, humanities classes are opened as selective course, but it is really rare to select humanities courses in the reason that the courses doe not help to get high score in Korea Scholastic Aptitude Test. Also the problems that is indicated in higher level of humanities education is its lack of practicality with students's real life, very old-dated and stock study materials and activities, and dissatisfaction of the full-time faculties who have exclusive responsibility on humanities education. The university-education in Korea does not give right responsibility on general education comparing to major department education, and this has caused the lack of understanding on the importance of humanities which plays a crucial role in general education. Now the direction of the humanities in universities is a civic education. Humanities beyond the institutions should reach out to citizens should prepare a variety of content.

이 글은 이러한 인문학의 개념적 분석과 인문학 교육 일반적 이념, 목적, 의의를 중심으 로 우리나라의 인문학과 인문학 교육의 현실적 조건을 분석하는 것에 목적이다. 그리고 인 문학이 학교에서 벗어나 올바른 시민 인문학 교육의 방향성을 새롭게 제시하는 데 목적을 둔다. 우리나라에서 수행되고 있는 중등교육과 고등교육에서의 인문학 교육의 실태를 조사 하고 분석하는 것이 이 연구의 목적이다. 그래서 2장과 3장은 중등교육과 고등교육에서의 인문학 교육이 지니는 문제점과 그 요 인들을 분석하는데 초점이 맞추어져 있다. 중등교육에 있어 인문학 교육은 인문학이 하부- 과목들로 기본적이고 핵심적인 지식을 습득하는 데에 중점을 두고 있다. 그래서 이런 현실 에서 질 좋은 인문학 교육이 실현되기는 어렵다. 고등학교 시절, 인문학 수업은 선택 과목 으로 되어 있지만, 수학능력시험에 도움이 되지 않는다고 이유로 인문학 교과목을 선택하 기는 드물다. 또한 고등 교육에 있어서의 인문학 교육의 문제점은 학생들의 현실과의 괴리라는 측면 이 지적되는데, 여기에는 대학 인문학 교육 목표를 달성하기에 실질적으로 불가능한 교육 과정, 그리고 전공에 비해 인문학 교육을 전담하는 전임교원의 부족 등을 들 수 있다. 사람 들은 현재 우리 대학교육에서 교양기초교육에 대한 왜곡된 인식으로 인해 교양 교육에 있 어 중심적인 역할을 한다는 것을 인식하지 못한다. 이제 대학을 중심으로 인문학과 인문학 교육의 방향성은 시민교육이다. 그리고 인문학은 제도권을 넘어 시민들에게 다가가야 할 다양한 콘텐츠를 준비해야 한다.
