With the opening of the local capital market, foreign investors started to make large investments. As such, fundamental analysis became a key point for stock investments. Moreover, the financial crisis in Korea also forced local analysts to start focusing on fundamental analysis as well. In addition, intrinsic value of a corporation and industry affected the local investment community. This research evaluates the usefulness of financial data in financial statements and tests the analyst following of Fundamental variables. This research uses 16 fundamental variables, which are derived from analyst experience. In this test, 13 fundamental variables are significant for investment decisions. In terms of the analyst following, there were 11 fundamental variables that were found to be meaningful. However, for corporations without analyst following, it was found that there were 13 useful fundamental variables. The AFS was used as a dummy variable to test the usefulness of the fundamental analysis depending on the Analyst Following. The result presented that 7 fundamental variables were significant.

국내 자본시장의 개방에 따른 외국자본의 본격적인 투자는 재무제표 정보를 활용하여 투자의사를 결정하는 기본적 분석이 도입되는 중요한 계기가 되었다. 이후 외환위기를 거치면서 증권 분석가들의 기본적 분석에 따른 투자가 보편화되기 시작하였으며, 투자분석가들은 기본적 분석을 통해 기업의 내재적 가치를 평가하고 이를 바탕으로 해당 기업 및 업종에 대한 투자의견을 제시하고 있다. 본 연구에서는 증권분석가들이 사용하는 기본적 분석의 기본이 되는 재무제표 정보의 유용성을 검증하고, Analyst Following 여부에 따른 기본적 분석변수의 가치관련성 차이 여부를 검증하였다. 본 연구에서는 총 16개의 기본적 분석변수를 사용하였으며, 이 중 13개의 기본적 분석변수가 유용한 것으로 나타났다. Analyst Following 여부에 따른 집단간 분석에서는 Analyst Following이 있는 경우에는 11개 기본적 분석변수가 유의하였으며, Analyst Following이 없는 경우에는 13개의 기본적 분석변수가 유의한 것으로 나타났다. 또한 Analyst Following을 하는 경우에는 기본적 분석변수의 설명력이 증가하는 것으로 나타났으며, dummy변수인 AFS을 사용하여 분석한 기본적 분석변수의 가치 관련성 검증에서는 7개의 기본적 변수가 유의한 것으로 나타났다.
