This article intends to examine artificial intelligence from a Buddhist point of view. We will briefly summarize the history of artificial intelligence and look into the future of artificial intelligence. For example, I introduce and review the concepts such as artificial general intelligence(AGI), superintelligence, and singularity. And I will look into the possible relevance of artificial intelligence and Buddhism, especially in relation to Buddha nature, Buddha, and mind of the Bodhisattva. Finally, I will look into the possibility of peaceful use of artificial intelligence. Artificial intelligence cannot become a Bodhisattva, but if artificial intelligence will be used for good purposes, then artificial intelligence is not different from Bodhisattva, at least in behaviors and their results. I do not know if artificial intelligence has a mind of Bodhisattva, but I imagine artificial intelligence acting like Bodhisattva.

이 글은 인공지능을 불교적 관점에서 고찰해보려는 시도에서 시작한 것이다. 먼저, 인공지 능의 역사를 간략하게 정리하고, 인공지능의 미래 전망에 대한 여러 학자들의 논의를 검토할 것이다. 예컨대, 인공 일반지능, 초지능, 특이점에 대한 지지자들의 주장을 소개하고 검토할 것 이다. 그리고 인공지능과 불교와의 관련 가능성을 살펴볼 것이다. 이를테면, 인공지능을 불성, 부처, 보살의 마음과 관련하여 살펴볼 것이다. 마지막으로 인공지능의 평화적 활용 가능성에 대해 전망해볼 것이다. 인공지능이 보살이 될 수는 없지만, 선용되었을 때 인공지능의 행동은 보살의 행동과 구별되기 어렵지 않을까? 인공지능이 보살의 마음을 가지고 있는지는 모르겠지 만, 보살과 같이 행동하는 인공지능을 상상해 본다.
