Even though the gospel of the Church and the goal of her worship are unchangeable, the forms, styles and communicational methods with the contemporary people are in need of changes. Throughout the salvational history, it's been true that the Christian liturgies have gone through various changes or modifications in fact. Postmodernism in general today tends not to accept inherited authoritative traditions that have been long taken for granted, but also even rejected them all. In this context, the Church cannot hold anymore firm on certain traditions and authoritative assumptions believed absolute and reliable so far. Moreover she is asked to appropriately respond to it with more contemporary fashion. Thus it became more and more important for contemporary churches to prepare the new liturgical strategies for the new generations and converts of this time, which are new in forms, styles, and practices. On this awareness, this article focuses mainly on how Christian worships can deal with this postmodern context without recession but instead proceed more to hopeful future of the Church and her worships.

기독교 복음의 본질과 예배의 목적은 불변이지만 그것을 시대와 상황 속 회중에게 표현하고 소통하는 양식과 스타일은 변화해야 한다. 구원사를 전체적으로 볼 때 예배의 역사는 변화와 발전의 과정을 겪어 왔다. 오늘날 포스트모더니즘은 오랜 동안 전수된 전통적 관습, 가치와 권위들에 대해 무조건적으로 수용하기를 거부하고 직관적인 방식으로 주관적 진리를 추구하는 특색을 보이고 있다. 사회 전반에서 포스트모더니즘의 도전에 직면한 현실에서 교회는 이제 교회생활의 중심인 예배가 과거의 형식을 단순히 지키는 것만으로는 안주할 수 없게 되었다. 이제는 이에 대한 공격적 대응과 함께 기존의 신자나 기성세대만이 아닌 새로운 세대, 교회 밖의 사람들을 흡인할 예배 방안의 모색이 중요한 과제가 되었다. 복음의 본질과 예배의 목적은 변함없이 지켜져야 하겠지만 동시에 이것이 지속적으로 가능하게 하기 위해서는 포스트모더니즘의 환경에 맞는 예배의 형식, 스타일, 운영 전략 등을 모색해야 한다. 본 연구는 이런 인식하에서 특별히 포스트모던 시대의 예배를 위한 이론적이고 실제적인 대안을 고민하면서 이와 같은 시대에 기독교 예배가 어떻게 그 항구적인 역할과 역동성을 흔들림 없이 지속해 나갈 것이냐를 위한 이론과 실제를 탐구하고 있다.
