The purpose of this study is to authenticate facts about the 5th Infantry Division of the Imperial Japanese Army dispatched in Joseon and the Countermeasure of Residents who were lived in Gyeongsang-do. This research has identified the times about the background of the Sino-Japanese War and Nozu michitsura(野津道貫, 1841~1908) who was a commander of the 5th Infantry Division of the Japanese army. He and his troops were moved northward along the supply line after landing in Busan to Seoul in August 1894. The result of this study is revealed newly uncovered details about the turbulent period of 1894 when the Donghak Peasant Army waged war against the Imperial Japanese Army. The data provided by JACAR(Japan Center for Asian Historical Records) is crucial.

이 논문은 청일전쟁 발발 후 조선에 증파된 일본군과 경상도의 동학농민군에 관해서 살펴보려는 목적에서 작성되었다. 이 연구는 일본제국이 근대 육군을 양성한 후 히로시마에 주둔시킨 제5사단을 살펴보고, 노즈 미치츠라(野津道貫, 1841~1908) 사단장이 1894년 8월 부산에 상륙해서 병참노선을 따라 육로로 북상했던 과정을 검토한 것이다. 이 연구의 성과는 경상도의 동학농민군이 일본제국의 군대에 대항해서 벌인 일련의 전투와 일본군의 탄압상을 구체적으로 밝혀낸 것이다. 이 논문은 일본 아시아역사자료센터에서 제공한 문서를 주요 근거로 활용하였다.
