Among the lyric works derived from the ‘Yongdamyoosa’(龍潭遺詞 - dragon pond story), the work, “Mongjung noso mundapga” is a work that requires more research in terms of religious and literary aspects. First, this work is an only work that consists of literary narratives among the lyrics works inherited by 󰡔Yongdam yoosa󰡕. The reason why the religious literature created for the purpose of propaganda, contains stories in a form of lyrics, is construed to influence the propagation easier to the lyrics loving class of the time. The turbulent latter part of Joseon dynasty was characterized as a period when the ideas derived from folk beliefs such as feng shui (風水) and docham (圖讖) have exerted wide social impacts with the religious implication. Out of these ideas, there was ‘Jeonggamrok’. There were many similarities in the natures demonstrated by the “Moonjung noso mundap ga” of “Yongdapyoosa” and the “Jeonggamrok” which had shared the common era and social background. In view of the circumstance that the “Jeonggamrok” had been situated in the middle of integrated critical culture rebelling against the upper community while confiding the original writer’s identity, you may take it granted that it had been affected by the Donghak movement. The common nature shared by these two works can be found in their prophetic nature. The core nature of the prophecies of religion is that the anxiety and pains in the existing world will be ended soon, a new world will be opened, and the perfect leader will appear so that you will have the salvation if you believe in him. The “Donghak” movement has been clearly characterized of these natures as a new religion and it has aimed to disseminate that fact to the world through the scriptures. Therefore, this paper is to identify the prophetic character that appears in the “Mongjung noso mundapga” by comparing with the “Jonggamrok ” and investigate a literary personality of “Mongjung noso mundapga”. It would have been a way to improve the readability of the work with their enhanced interest while delivering the message more clearly to the readers.

<용담유사(龍潭遺詞)>의 가사 작품들 가운데 ｢몽중노소문답가(夢中老少問答歌)｣는 종교적, 문학적으로 좀 더 고찰이 필요한 작품이다. 우선 이 작품은 <용담유사>에 전하는 가사 작품 중에서 유일하게 문학적 서사가 이루어져 있는 작품이다. 포교를 목적으로 하는 종교문학이 가사의 형식에 이야기를 담은 이유는 당시의 가사 향유층들에게 좀 더 쉽게 포교의 영향을 미치기 위해서였다. 혼란스럽던 조선 후기는 동학이 출현하기 이전, 풍수(風水)‧도참(圖讖)등의 민간 신앙에서 비롯된 사상들이 종교성을 띠고 사회적 영향을 미치던 시기였다. 이러한 사상의 가운데 <정감록(鄭鑑錄)>이 있었다. 출현 시대와 배경이 비슷한 <용담유사>의 ｢몽중노소문답가｣와 <정감록>이 보여주는 성격에는 유사점이 많다. 사회적인 배경으로 인해 출현을 자극하는 요인이 있었기 때문에, 일정한 작가가 드러나지 않은 채 상층사회에 대해 비판적인 집적문화의 가운데 있었던 <정감록>에 대한 동학의 영향은 당위성을 가질 수 있는 것이다. 이러한 두 작품에서 공통적으로 연결되는 성격으로 예언성을 찾을 수 있다. 종교가 가진 예언성의 핵심은 기존 세상에서의 불안과 고통이 머지않아 끝나고 새로운 세상이 열리며, 완벽한 지도자가 나타나 그를 믿으면 구원받을 수 있다는 것이다. 동학은 신흥종교로서 이러한 특징을 분명히 하고 있으며 경전을 통해 세상 사람들에게 그 사실을 알리고자 한 것이다. 따라서 본고는 ｢몽중노소문답가｣에 나타나는 예언적 성격을 <정감록>과의 비교로 확인해보고 ｢몽중노소문답가｣가 가지는 문학적 개성을 찾아보고자 하였다. 이는 독자들에게 더욱 뚜렷이 메시지를 전달하면서 작품 자체에 대한 재미와 가독성까지 높일 수 있는 방법이 되었던 것이다.
