In recent years Open Source GIS software had been introduced in various areas, as its interest and application continue to increase worldwide. In the same token, the interest and application of Open Source GIS software also keep expanding in diverse fields not only in the world and but also in Korea. However, in Korea, there are only a few companies related to Open Source GIS software among the companies that run geospatial information related business. In addition, it is very weak in the development of business model which applies Open Source to actual fields in Korea. In this study we are going to investigate what kinds of business models are feasible in geospatial information related business in Korea and then to analyze how domestic GIS software companies have applied the Open Source to their business, after performing the preceding researches of business model for Open Source software. We think that this study is very valuable not only to vitalize the ecosystem of Open Source GIS software industry in Korea, but also to initiate new businesses of domestic GIS software companies.

최근 전 세계적으로 오픈소스 소프트웨어에 대한 관심이 증가함에 따라 다양한 분야에 오픈소스 소프트웨어가 도입되고 있으며 그 활용도 증가하고 있는 추세이다. 이러한 현상은 공간정보 분야에도 유사하여, 전 세계적으로 오픈소스 공간정보 소프트웨어에 대한 관심이 증가하고 있고, 국내에서도 최근 들어 관심이 급증하고 있는 실정이다. 그러나 국내 공간정보산업 사업체 중에서 오픈소스 소프트웨 어 관련 기업의 수는 매우 적을 뿐만 아니라 오픈소스를 통한 비즈니스 모델의 발달도 미약한 수준이다. 본 연구에서는 오픈소스 소프트웨어 비즈니스 모델 선행연구 분석을 통해 오픈소스 공간정보 소프트웨어와 관련하여 어떠한 비즈니스 모델이 가능한지를 살펴보고, 국내 오픈소스 공간정보 소프트웨어 관련 기업의 오픈소스 활용현황과 비즈니스를 분석한 후 기업의 유형별로 어떠한 오픈소스 소프트웨어 비즈니스 모델이 가능한 지를 전략적으로 제시함으로써 오픈소스 공간정보 소프트웨어 관련 기업의 활성화를 도모하고, 나아가 국내 오픈소스 공간정보 소프트웨어 생태계를 활성화하는 기반을 마련하고자 한다.
