The present study analyzed the Seoul future heritage project, a representative example of the way of preserving urban memory. The major point of discussion was suggested through the concepts of collective memory and memory of place. Collective memory means the memory that is formed socially, and memory of place refers to the substance of memory that is realized in a place. The study aimed to investigate the case of Seoul future heritage project by exploring the concepts of collective memory and memory of place. Although the research began from the question of how to preserve urban memory, it does not suggest specific ways to preserve the memory. The study has a significant in that it attempted to understand the project with the concept of collective memory and shed light on urban space in the perspectives of memory, preservation, etc. A basic direction for empirical study has been suggested in the study, and it is expected that the research will be able to provide a perspective on the Seoul future heritage project in the future.

본 연구는 도시의 기억을 보존하는 방법으로 서울미래유산 사업의 사례를 들어 정리하였다. 이에 대한 논의의 지점을 집단기억과 장소의 기억 개념을 통해 제시하고자 했다. 집단기억은 사회적으로 형성된 기억을 의미하며, 장소의 기억은 장소에 구현된 기억이 실체를 의미한다. 본 연구는 이러한 집단기억과 장소의 기억 개념을 중심으 로 서울미래유산 사업의 사례를 분석하고자 했다. 본 연구의 문제 설정은 도시의 기억을 어떻게 보존할까에 대한 질문에서 시작되었지만, 기억을 보존하는 구체적인 방법을 제시하지는 않았다. 본 연구는 서울미래유산 사업을 집단기억의 개념으로 이해하고자 했다는데 의미가 있으며, 도시의 공간을 기억, 보존 등의 측면에서 바라보았다 는데 가치가 있다. 연구는 차후 서울미래유산사업의 실증적인 분석을 진행하는데 기초적인 방향을 제시하였다.
