This study was to investigate a group of adolescents’ daily musical activities, musical preferences, stress-level, and mood regulation strategies. The survey was conducted to 180 middle school and high school students and the data of 99 students were analysed by using frequency analysis, cross-table analysis, correlation analysis and two-way ANOVA. The results were as follows. First, music listening was the most preferred musical activities, and K-pop was the most preferred music genre among the adolescents. Second, for the adolescents, academic stress was the most stressful one. And male and female students show statistically different levels of stress regarding their physical appearance. Third, “revival strategy” is the most commonly used strategy among adolescents. And there were statistical differences on “strong sensation” and “solace strategy” between middle school and high school students. Also, students experiencing the higher stress showed that they used more “discharge” and “mental work” strategies than other strategies.

이 연구는 청소년들의 일상에서의 음악생활을 알아보기 위해 일상에서 경험하는 음악활동과 음악선호, 지각된 스트레스, 그리고 음악을 사용한 정서조절 전략에 대해 조사한 것이다. 총 180명의 중, 고등학생을 대상으로 음악활동, 음악선호, 지각된 스트레스, 그리고 음악사용 전략에 대한 설문조사를 실시하였으며 동의서를 작성하고 성실하게 응답한 총 99명의 자료를 빈도분석, 교차분석, 상관관계분석, 그리고 이원배치 분산분석을 적용하여 분석하였다. 연구결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 청소년들은 음악감상을 가장 많이 하고 또한 가장 선호하였으며 음악장르로는 대중음악을 가장 선호하였다. 둘째, 청소년들은 학업 스트레스가 가장 높았으며 외모스트레스의 경우 여학생이 남학생보다 통계적으로 유의미하게 높았다. 셋째, 청소년들은 음악을 사용하여 정서를 조절하는 전략 중 ‘회복’을 가장 많이 사용하고 있으며 고등학생들을 중학생들 보다 ‘강한 감각’ 과 ‘위안’ 전략을 많이 사용한다고 보고하였다. 또한 청소년들은 일상에서 스트레스가 높을수록 음악을 ‘방출’과 ‘정신작업’ 전략으로 많이 사용한다고 보고하였다.
