Crystal Structure Analysis of N,N′-bis(3-chloro-2-methylsalicylidene)-1,4-butanediamine

The crystal structure of the saliciline derivatives N,N′-bis(3-chloro-2-methylsalicylidene)-1,4- butanediamine (C20H22Cl2N2O2) has been determined from single crystal X-ray diffraction data. In the title compound crystallizes in the triclinic space group Pī with unit cell dimension a= 4.6085(3) Å, b=5.9747(3) Å and c= 5.9747(3) Å [ α=83.889 (4)°, β= 86.744(5)° and γ= 82.085(5)°]. The title compound is essentially planar conformation. The compound lies across a crystallographic inversion centre and adopts E configurations with respect to the C-N bonds.
