These researches are on purpose of comprehending drawbacks of elite swimming academies in South Korea and suggesting solutions to the problems to contribute advances in swimming. To approach the goals of the researches, the purposeful sampling, one of non-participant observation, is used in. Seven people, whose are swimmers, a concerned person in athletic association, an owner of gymnasium, a professor of physical education, are selected by participants of the researches that they are able to provide relevant information to the researches. The results are based on the analysis of the in-depth interviewing with participants. First, swimmers are not guaranteed to get jobs in elite swimming when they retire. Ensuring jobs to retired swimmers is necessary to bail out of the recent phenomenon in the fields that young players avoid to be swimmers because of lack of jobs. Second, Infra-structures for development of the swimming fields are not built in yet. The crisis is intensified because of training facilities, exercise programs, less supports from athletic associations and companies. The discussion, to adopt advanced exercise programs and to receives supports from the associations and companies, are required.

본 연구는 한국 엘리트 수영의 위기상황에 대한 문제점 파악하고 해결책을 제시하여 수영계의 발전에 이바지하 는데 목적이 있다. 이러한 연구의 목적을 달성하기 위하여 비확률 표집의 하나인 유목적적 표집법을 사용하여 본 연구의 주제와 관련된 많은 정보를 줄 수 있는 관련자 7명(수영선수, 체육회 관계자, 스포츠센터사장, 체육학 교수)을 연구참여 자로 선정하였다. 연구참여자들의 심층면잠자료를 분석한 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째 현재 엘리트 수영계에서 선수들의 일자리가 보장되지 못하고 있다. 탈 수영화 현상을 벗어나기 위해서는 은퇴 후의 일자리 확보가 필요하다. 둘째 수영계 발전을 위한 인프라가 구축되어 있지 못하다. 전용 훈련시설과 훈련 프로그램 및 체육회, 기업의 지원 부족으로 위기가 심화되고 있다. 이에 선진 훈련프로그램 도입, 체육회 및 기업의 다양한 지원을 받기 위한 논의가 필요하다.
